First, for background, I use Mustad39960D hooks. For starters, they have a deep "belly" which allows fish to stay buttoned on the long way up and have srtong wire. I consider it the standard.

Now to the sizes. I use sizes 11/0, 12/0 and 13/0. Some of the choice in size is dependent on target species. To give a rough idea, in the N East an 11/0 might be the better choice if target is Blue line Tiles. For Golden Tiles, Id say a 12/0 and would be good size and also a middle of the road hook across the spectrum. The 13/0, in my opinion, is very good if you will be getting into bigger jaws consistently. Personally, with area we fished I used 13/0 hooks but that was based on many years in certain areas. They were also proven effective with other deep species such as Barrelfish, Yellowedge etc. I offer that "in general". Folks have their own preferences based on their individual success/fishery and experience

I stay humble at all times with deep dropping but have spent many years with it and, to that point, am always willing to share whatever I may know. Because we spent years going it alone, we are always willing to help jump start others' move into deep dropping.

Feel free to call me directly if you'd like to discuss!

Default B.A.T Pack

I ordered and received my deep drop pack. It was a smooth and easy transaction and it arrived in a very timely fashion. I have to say, I have rigged my own stuff for years and I am impressed with the quality of these rigs. Moreover I am impressed at what you get for the price. Also Doug followed up with me to answer any questions I might have. It was a pleasure to get to know him and he is a wealth of knowledge on deep dropping. I look forward to doing business with him in the future.

Sign me up for a pack. 12/0, one squid, two straight glow. Best terminal gear you can’t buy for double the money elsewhere!
Thanks Doug!
