Gil,
You had an ad for the 7616 chartplotter a bit a go..I think they were $3895 or so...
Do you still have any of those?

Default upgrade 7212 ?

Gil, question for you, I have a 7212 with a GSD 24 and B 260, HDR 24 radar, pretty happy with it. A little laggy on the redraw rate.

I run Chrip on a 840xs separate from above.

Would the 7612 be a plug and play ugrade for the 7212? Is there enough meat on the bone to gain from the upgrade?

Would you advise going 7612xvs for the future flexibility ?

The newer 7612 and 7612xsv will fully network to a 840xs....but not to the 7212.

If youget a 7612xsv then you will not require the GSD24..,,nor the antenna.
the 7612xsv will fire your current ducer ..plus an additional side scan if you wish.
or a CHIRP ducer.

Hi Gil,
I'm building a new boat and I'm planning on twin 12" Garmins displays. I purchased one unit (a 7612) used off a buddy who took it off is boat and I'm looking to purchase a 7612xsv to avoid having to buy the black box.
My question is: would both units still have sounder capabilities as long as the 7612xsv is working? What wiring will the used unit require other?

I have basically the same set-up (an xsv and a non-xsv) hooked together with an ethernet cable as I recall, and my sonar works fine on both units - so I'm sure Gil will say yes.

The 7612 will share the sonar images from the 7612xsv by using a Garmin network cable....no problem.

The 7612 is and about 1" taller...than the 7212.....so all you have to do is expand the hole a little.
