Default Question on your 400g Jigging rod setup...

How do you like your Shimano Speed Master II reel? Also, what size is it... the 16? and what weight braid do you have on there.
Big game fishing is new to me, so I'm just tryin' to learn.

I've ordered one of John's rods, and have a speedmaster myself!

So far no complaints with the SpeedMasters. Between my friends we have setups with the 12 and 16. My personal setup I have the SpeedMaster 16 with 65lb JB but the pics above we were using the SpeedMaster 12.

Have you ever considered a light King Mackerel live bait rod? 15-25# 7' ring guides? I'm presently in the market for 3.

What would you recommend pairing with an Avet LX 6.0 for sailfish?

Have the same question. Some threads have mentioned trolling with jigging rods, but not a lot of examples. Also any structural concerns with the acid wrapped rings on the troll?

I am on the other side of the world, email or PM here is my only way for me to communicate with him. He always answers but sometimes it takes a few days...

Hi John,

Im building my arsenal and Im thinking about your rods.

I just moved to the OBX and my next boat is about a year away. I have a lot of inshore gear, but now Im looking to build my offshore collection.

Will probably go with TLD or Squall 30s and see how I do with those. Ill be fishing for YTF out of the Oregon Inlet in the Outer Banks. Im thinking 38-80# 6 stand up rods with straight butts.

I really like these in the picture with the aluminum butts. Can you please send me a PM on what these would cost?

I dont want to break the bank so maybe a few options?

Thanks

Steve
