What rods would you recommend to pair with Shimano TLD 50s?
Mostly trolling for dolphin/wahoo

Default XR series with ALPS S-6 Rollers 60-100 class BIG Bluefin

More videos added to the XR pro series rods in action - picture says a 1000.....video says it all.
Check em out.

Also finding a lot of Youtube videos with customers using the XR series with S-6. Here is a current customer review on that rod:

I love Emails like this one - Thank you Ben for making my day and continued success on the water !!

Hi John,

After reading some great reviews here on The Hull Truth I purchased one of your rods in April (the XR-ALPS S-6 60-100 Blue/Silver-straight butt) with hopes of landing my first bluefin tuna up here off Massachusetts. I paired the rod with an Avet EXW 30/2. Well, after landing 4 bluefin in the 100 to 150 pound range over the course of this summer, I was really impressed. So, this past Friday, my father and I went out to see if we could test this combo on some real jumbos. We ended up catching and releasing 3 giant bluefin tuna, from roughly 350-500 pounds, of which the two largest ones came on your rod. Had to pretty much max out the drag on the Avet but I was in awe that this rod handled a 90+ inch monster with relative ease! It was a banner day to say the least.

We took a beating fighting them on the stand-up gear, so I will most likely be getting another one of these rods but with the bent butt for my father. Do you have any suggestions on which bent butt would be good for fishing live bait and for fighting the fish out of a swivel rod holder? With the option of being able to fight it stand-up also? We hope to get into even bigger fish next year, so I'm not sure if I need to upgrade to one of your more heavy duty rods? If such a thing exists. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to thank you for making an incredible rod and for the smooth purchasing process. I never thought my so called "entry level rod" would lead to such an incredible fishing season. Hope you enjoy some photos of your rod in action with these giants!

Thank you,
Ben

John the canyon sweepers are in my possession. The last two I sold to a commercial fisherman friend who decided that he wouldn't use a rod tether and both went overboard. The only conciliation is that he caught two 90lb Fish that he sold to offset his losses.

They're sweet!

Thanks again!

I got my rods in on Thursday. I can't wait to get to the water. Customer service was amazing and shipping was very fast. I can't recommend John enough. He took time to talk with me and help me figure out exactly what I needed. I'll definitely be a return customer.

Class is 350-400g, or for those who prefer a weight class - (15-40 lb aprox).

This is a multitask rod that is great for small snapper at your favorite rock, and then proceed out to the floaters to throw topwaters to 150lb yellowfin.

This rod is designed to multi-task so you dont have to take 10 rods to do the job of one really good one.

Depending on your target game, you can mount anything from a 5k - to a 25k reel. My favorite set up is the saragosa 18, and 20k reels. On any given trip I will catch snapper, ling, grouper, Ajs, mahi, wahoo and YFT's - Oh yea, and lots of pesky blackfin.

The rods are $185ea plus shipping

Thanks THT for making this rod and all of its predecessors a great success.;
Do you have these in conventional? And would it be a good pairing for a MXJ Raptor?

Had any feedback as to how well the swivel inserts hold up to hi speed trolling?

The swivel insert will be equally as strong, or stronger in some cases than your existing rod holder. I have sold over a 1000 of these now and if there was a problem with them, I would hope that someone out there would have contacted me. I have 4 of them that stay in my rod holders all the time. In 3 years I have removed them only to reset the tension. I also make sure my hard core fishing friends use them. If they can't break them, I m pretty sure everyone else is safe.

If anyone is ever concerned about the strength of the inserts and wants to step up there game with the shot gun rod holder - this thing is commercial grade and the best swivel addition to any boat (PIC ATTACHED)

THT MEMBER PRICE - $225
A must have as a Sword Fish, or Bluefin - Platform
