The 400g is a hybrid casting / jigging rod. Due to the 6' 6" length - you can't throw a country mile with it, but at the same time the shorter length wont break your back while jigging all day. The 6' 6" 400g action is a perfect weight /length hybrid. That Penn 7500 will fit nicely.
We use the stick for Red Snapper to 150# YFT's and everything in between.

I need your email address to send you a request.
The butt section is
19.5" from where is screws into the rod to the gimbal
From the center of the reel seat to the gimbal is 17 "
If you PM your email address, make sure you let me know what color you would like.
Feel free to call if you have any questions.
If you want the rod to ship today, get with me quick.
I am shutting down early today to get ready for a weeks vacation that starts tomorrow.
Thanks, john

I need a planer rod for wahoo of N.C. Reel is a Penn 80w. Broke my current rod on a fish last weekend. I think I need the Eliminator 100. I have the Aftco bent butt from my broken rod so I don’t think I need another. What’s price and delivery to N.C.? I also sent you a pm. Thanks.

hello sir. Great to hear. Text message sent as folloqs

Hello sir.

Would like to know if a TSX 80 PRO w/ALPS RX-H can be used for HST and have a soft enough tip for Daytime Sword. AND if so can the tip be switched to a swivel that has the same .27 clearance? Rod would be Black and Gold with Long Bent.

Thank you in advance and hope you have a great day.

Default TSX 80 vs Sword Rod

The TSX 80 is a very popular rod for HST Wahoo, Bluefin, Marlin, Sharks, giant grouper and pulling the dredge. It would be far from my first choice as a sword rod. If you have swords in your area that crash the bait and swallow it every time, the TSX 80 might work out, but if you need to see that delicate dance of the sword playing with the bait at 1800ft.... check out one of my sword rods that are designed for that purpose.

The swivel tops are great for HST as they keep the line centered in the roller and off the side of the roller cage. When sword fishing you will most likely have a 100ft+ wind-on with wax loops that need to go through to the reel. Along with that you will most likely have your diamond lights rigged with bands that will break upon hitting the first guide. That impact / stress is not great for a SiC insert (whats on the swivel tip bail) and could break it loose or crack it over time. The roller on the tip will never break and will also provide a smooth transition for knots, wax loops, and pieces of rubber band that did not break free.

I have done sword rods with swivel tips by customer request, but I always advise against it.

As always feel free to give me a call with any questions.
