nice. Out of a fish that size how many pounds of fillets would you normally get?

Didnít get a weight. But after splitting in thirds still had a ton of meat. Gave away a bunch. Ate a bunch fresh and have a bunch in freezer. Cooked it a bunch of different ways and itís been really good.

Arrow Sword 30 rods coming soon!

I have only ever had one on the line by accident, and what a show that lasted for about 3 minutes. Never before or since have a seen a fish come out of the water 20+ feet.
I would have loved to grill up a steak or two.....
Keep the awesome pictures coming!

The Sword 30 rods will be available 2nd week of August. For those of you on the reserve or have a future interest....the rods will be standard with the Fuji HB SiC, and you choice of either the ALPS Twin Bearing Roller top, or any of the Winthrop roller tops including the most ridiculously priced Titanium Aussie tip.
Available Butts:
Short Straight
Long Straight
Short, Medium, and long curved
And the Winthrop Terminator in either #2, or #4

Hi John, There's a thread in the sport fishing section on down rigger trolling rods.Seems very few companies ( if any) make them for the rigors of saltwater fishing.I'd be interested if you have anything for slow live bait trolling with down riggers? Fish targeted are Muttons,Grouper,Kings ect. Thanks,Lu Reel size would be TLD 30 or equivalent.

Default Great rods

I got 5 rods from John a few weeks ago and used them here on Guam. I have used a lot more expensive rods in the past and I have to say these are comparable if not better. The blanks have a great balanced flexed and the alps rollers were silky smooth. I got 2 canyon runners and 3 of the X-R pros. Now I need more reels so I can buy more rods. Thanks for the great service and the advice on what rods to buy. I pair them with shimano tiara 80ís.

ATTN: AnitaFish22 - Your PM box is full

Regarding the custom Kite rods - I do have them, but they are built to order. They are standard with Winthrop Kite tip, but you can choose the overall length, and type of butt. Price will vary depending on components.

Ventured out to the canyons last weekend with 6 Pinnacle rods aboard. Quickly after getting on troll we had a big eye take down one of our baits on the XR series rod w/ roller tip (XR1652050). The rods were paired with Shimano Talica 25IIs, Penn Fathom 40LD2, International 16s, and Avet LX reels spooled with hollowcore backing and 100yd topshot.

After screaming off 250yds of line the fish slowed down and the fight was on. Right away we knew it was big fish and it we put the screws to him early. The 20-50 class XR series rods w/ roller tip performed flawlessly and we had the 150 lb BIGEYE on the deck within 20 minutes.
Soon after getting back on the troll we were wolf packed by 40-60lb yellowfin. The 20-50 and 30-80 actions seem to be a great match for this class of fish and will not hesitate to buy more for the boat. Our total tally for the trip: 6 Yellowfin, 1 Big Eye

The owner of Pinnacle, John, is always extremely helpful and quick to make things happen. I would highly recommend his products to any serious offshore angler.

Calm seas and tight lines!

Ryan

Talking Giant Grouper set-up

Sorry, currently not on Amazon. If I were I would have to charge 20% more to cover the fees. The Xr Fuji is a great set-up and well matched for the Avet 30EXW regarding drag capability vs rod deflection. Most of my customers who target 100 - 300lb Warsaw tend to go with a Avet TRX 50 or 80, Tiagr 80, etc.... and put that on a legit 80 class rod like the TSX 80 Pro. A stiff rod paired with a reel with heavy drag will prevent a grouper that size from getting back into their hole and expedite a trip to the cooler.

Pictured is a set-up that works well for big critters - TSX 130 + Avet EXW 80/2
