Default Where can i sell shark fins

Hey guys, I have the fins from a 367 Thresher I caught earlier this year. Is there any place I can sell these fins? What is their worth. I have seen processed ones for hundreds a pound.

A little far for me I am New Jersey! I don't want to just throw them away. That would be a waste but maybe the only option.

Go to Chinatown in NYC. You can probably sell them there...

I would check with the National Marine Fisheries(NMFS) just tell them you are trying to sell fins. They should help you right away.

I think shark finning (cutting the fins without harvesting the entire carcass) is illegal, but selling fins is apparently allowed. I don't know the specifics of selling- just that if shark fins are on your boat, there had better be a shark carcass.

Supposedly, shark fins have a wholesale value of $100 per lb wet, and $200 dried. By the time the fins reach parts of Asia, they're worth considerably more. Apparently, one bowl of shark fin soup might cost $100 in Tokyo.

I wonder if you need a commercial license to sell the fins legally...

Unbelievable, just toss the fins. The next thing we know bear 13 will be boasting he got $100 for a fin and everybody in Jersey will be finning! Why not let the shark go in the first place.

I alway want to know that too. (where they could be used) not for the $ but it's a waist throughing them out when some people would kill for them! besides it might be nice to try the soup if I knew the right guy that could cook it. (he'd be happy, I'd be happy just to try it.)threshers don't eat nearly as good as a mako.!
