I can tell you my '05 gets 15 to 16 around town, and 11 to 12 towing 8 t0 9 thousand pounds of boat at hiway speeds around 70+ if that helps.

My'05 (6.0 liter) does about the same. The one for sale has 7.3 liter. Maybe someone with a 7.3 liter Excursion can give more accurate numbers.

GF, thanks for posting the picture.

As far as MPG goes, on average (City/Hwy) 17.5 mpg. Highway, driving 60 it gets 19-20 mpg, Towing a 3000lb boat at 65 it averages 15 mpg.

Pretty good in my book.

My '02 7.3L 4x4 Excursion gets 15-16 around town, 18-22 highway (not quite 22 at 55MPH, about 18 at 75MPH) and about 11 towing my 8500# boat.

Love mine. Have had several Suburbans, which have a more comfortable ride. The Excursion with a diesel can't be beat as far as towing and fuel economy. By the way, 2005 was the last model year for the Excursion.

Ours has been great. I'm selling because we sold our big boat and now have no need for the ultimate tow vehicle.

I just bought a used excursion 7.3 2001 limited 4x4 . I searched the internet for a few weeks and I found a great deal. My unit averages around 14.75 mpg in town and 18 hwy. In Birmingham where I live I have many hills to deal with so someone in a flatter area will get better mileage. I love my new rig. When I purchased this truck it was in Knoxville, so I drove my car up and loaded it on a car hauler and pulled it back. The trailer and car were around 6000 lbs and I averaged over 12mpg hauling from the smokies. The old tires pulled the mileage down. It pulled 6k like it was'nt there. I paid 22.5k for a unit with 79k on th odometer. Autobaron.com is a great search engine for internet. If you see one you like you better jump quick. V-10's and suburbans are a dime a dozen, but a exursion diesel is only 10 to 15 percent of all made. They do have a history of brake problems and some other issues, but so do others. This will be a great family suv with a 11k tow rating.

I'm open to reasonable offers on my 2000 diesel excursion. See link in original post.
