Default Merc Revolution 4 props 17" pitch, trade or possible sale.

I'm not going to be able to use these props as they're too heavy for my 150 Honda engines and cause rattle at idle speeds. All other performance aspects of these props are fantastic, no rpm drop compared to my 3 blades, lots of trim range, they'll lift the bow just as high as you can possibly want it when trimmed up. No blow out/ventilation in any sea conditions. I need a pair of lighter weight props, such as Powertech 3 blade 15 X 17 but will consider others. These props are in good used condition. I would prefer to trade rather than sell so if you're looking for the state of the art in 4 blades, here's your chance. These props use Flo Torque hubs which are interchangeable for almost any engine at 30.00 a pop. I have the hub kits for Honda and Mercury.

Hey skypoke. Might you be interested in a set of Mirage wheels. Not a nick. 19 pitch counter-rotating. They use the old rubber bushings that are pressed in. They are 14.5 or 14.75 diameter, I will check in the morning and also take a few pictures and post them for you to see. They may actually be a bit too much pitch for my needs, I will find out tomorrow. I was/am extremely interested in a set of Rev4's due to the heavy weight of my boat and needing a really good cruising speed prop. I usually don't run the engines above about 3200 rpm's, but with 1.65:1 gears that puts me close to 30 knots. I actually have a few pictures of them posted already. Look at the thread where pooldoo73 has a set of props for sale.

Pooldoo,

I'm told the Mirage props don't work well on my 150's either due to weight. But it sounds like the Rev 4's are what you need, they are very impressive props. I really wish I could use em myself.

What is the difference between the Honda hubs and the Mercury hubs? Are they totally different or more like the Merc and Yam hubs where the Merc hub can be drilled and then will fit either Merc or Yam? Also, if you find a particular wheel you want and I can get them we may be able to work out a swap like that. I WANT THOSE WHEELS. I ask about the hubs because if they are similar and can be modified a little to fit both, I will have the hubs modified and if nothing else we can swap for a test drive to see if they will REALLY fit our individual needs. It would be better than buying a set to try and would probably only cost about $30 in shipping each for the round trip. I would be game if you would.

Pool,

I'm told that the Mirage props have the same rattle issue on the 150's as the Rev 4's. Looks like I'm going to bite the bullet and spring for a new set of Powertech props, these are what Honda specs out for these engines anyway. I really have a hard time seeing how much difference there could be between these props but the positive thing is that they can be exchanged if necessary. Have you tried out your Mirages yet to see if they will work for you?

As far as these props, they use the Flo Torq II hub system, I'm actually using the Mercury hub kits with a Honda thrust washer and they fit perfectly. I have all the components for a Merc mount too, including new thrust washers. This system doesn't require any pressing or machining, just slide in the right components and you're good to go. I'll think on what we might work out but I've already got a pretty impressive prop collection and just want some wheels that work for my application.

I just bought a new 250 etec and switched props from my 225 from VIPER 14 3/4 17 to a VIPER 14 3/4 19. The new VIPERS retail for $472. I'm selling the 14 3/4 17--its in good shape--and looking for $250.

Skypoke, I hear you on the wheel collection issue. That's why I offered a swap just to do a test drive. I would get lynched by the significant other if I put another set of props on the shelf. Unfortunately, I didn't get to put the new wheels to the test due to a spun coupling on an engine. I had a feeling it was bad, but you can't know till you put it in a bind or pull the engine to tell. Gonna pull the engine this week and change the coupling in hopes of being ready for an offshore trip next Monday. I had reduced our plans to just going to the camp this weekend in case the coupling was an issue, good thing. Anyway, if you go with PowerTech's and have an opportunity to test them to make sure their right without buying, and still would like to get out from under the Rev4's, I can/will get you the PowerTech's you need so as we can "swap" and you can relieve yourself of unneeded wheels. My cousin is a prop mechanic and also has an account with PowerTech. He also owes me $500 for an engine he never finished paying for.

Pool,

Sounds like a deal made in heaven to me. I have found, after much research, a potential problem that may or may not affect the rattle issue. I'm going to experiment around a bit more and see if I can make em work. Tell you what, though, if you find that the Mirages aren't going to work for you I'll be happy to loan you these props to try whether I decide to keep em or not. If I can't make em work I'll send em to you and we'll work out a deal on the Powertechs. Looking at your boat I'm thinking the 19 pitch mirages are going to be a bit much.
