Let it go it was a honest mistake. And I have a lot of respect for everyone on here I know RK very well and he is a stand up guy. On the other hand I make a lot of lures spreader bars etc for people and did not charge them for it at the time. I go out of my way to do it as they request spend money that I don't really have at times for them and they don't buy and never respond back with their custom order, that now I'm stuck with. I have to move on. Today I ask to get paid up front before I start. I don't hold any anger or animosity to-wards them or post what they promised and did not follow through with. He sent your money back. And I have to ask what do you want us to do or RK to do. Man we have seen other threads posted about buyer beware and yes I was involved in it because I had dealing with the situation. And other threads about who make's who's lures The bottom line we got sick of it the mud slinging and I really don't care It was unprofessional. I don't have to use there name's out of respect to all my fellow members and those that have been involved I'm not judging them wish you the best, there is other ways to vent with out using peoples screen name

Dolphin,
I totally agree with you that RK should have been responsible and responded to your communciation. No excuses. Obviously he is a non responsive person and has no respect for someone else's time. Some people don't get it. Thank goodness most people on the hull truth are not this inconsiderate.

Sounds to me like he had another offer, maybe for more money.
When you didn't answer---"Dolphin, Are you still interested in the broadband sounder? Let me know. Thanks,--- He sold it to that buyer . Then when you next inquired, he had already sold it and didn't know how to answer you. I know, he had already closed a deal with you. He was wrong,he should have waited for your reply before proceeding, but what are you going to do? Most folks on here are ok. I've bought a bunch of stuff here with very little "stickyness"

Sorry that the both of you guys didn't work things out. While you admit in a gentlemanly manner that you didn't check your mail regularly, your disappointment is that the Seller didn't do the same thing for you.

You assumed that he would accept your Promise to Pay.
He assumed that you were another less-than-sincere bidder.

Chit happens, and in this case, the both of you didn't get what you hoped for. No harm, no foul, since both Buyer and Seller had a FollowUp deal that went sour.

I agree with another poster that a phone number should have been traded somewhere along the line...because both of you guys would have known fersure what your respective intentions were going to be.

I honestly didn't check my email because it was the weekend and I wasn't on my computer, However I sent my pm's with that delivery confirmation. So I know he was reading my pm's and just ignoring them, which is what really got me. I figured I hat just sent my money to some scam. The way things turned out is fine, I just would have liked a little communication with my check in the mail. If he would have ignored me before I sent my check it would have been no problem. I just hate for someone to waste my time getting money orders and mailing on a deal that is no good. I think in the future I will only do paypal transactions. I agree with the phone number idea as well, I just have never called anyone to do a purchase on this forum, except the guy with the truck.

Well you should have called this guy...........
I am the other guy who bought it and the seller did in fact wait a week for the $$ to show.
I had no problem calling him on the phone or having him sign for my check after i mailed it to avoid such a situation.

He was nothing but accommodating to me and didn't make an extra penny selling it to me.

I have his phone # if there are any issues getting your money back let me know

"I really hate to rant on a public forum, however I just wanted to see some other opinions besides mine. I am just going to post the pm’s and vent a little."

Not a bad job for something you really hate to do

Doesn't sound like a bad enough situation to bring the attention to this entire board. Not saying things went 100% correct but you didn't loose any money. Get a paypal account so this doesn't happen.

I've been working a deal with RK on his Raymarine radar. I was too a little hesitant to send so much money to someone I've never met, but I exchanged several emails with him and also a couple phone calls. I would have rather used Paypal, it would protect both of us, but sometimes people don't like it and its either pay up the funds the old-fashioned way or pass on the deal. My money is sent and I have not had any second-thoughts on dealing with RK. He has returned all my emails and PM's in a timely manner (within 24 hours). He should have my check by now as I sent it last Monday, so hopefully it'll clear sometime this week and my radar will be in the mail. :: crosses fingers ::

I have a paypal account I was sending the money in the fashion that he requested. I am going to ask that this post be deleted because it seems to be some varying opinions and that is what I expected.

It may seem to come that it is no harm since there is the money was returned and I can respect that. I do have a job during the week that keeps me really busy, having to take the time to get a money order and then going to the post office to mail is a inconvience for me. I did it because I was getting something I wanted. $200 is a lot for me. It just really had me worried to know that I had sent my money to someone that was no longer communicating with me. If he had said, I'm sorry I sold it to someone else but I will send your money order back as soon as I get it. I may have been a little upset but I wouldn't have been worried about my money, which is the main thing. I also thought about what tim said and I can respect his opinion like anyone else's. I think tim does good work with his rigs and had even thought about getting a couple when I get my boat in the water.

However I started buying item from sellers on this forum because of the good deals and because I felt like it was honest trading. Who would want to pay a membership and do a bunch of bad business. I think everyone would just quite buying or selling to them. I have seen some mud slinging on this forum and that was not my intention. I posted all the pm's so that there was nothing I said to mislead anyone. In tim's situation I don't see the harm in posting the people that had him build rigs only to never to communicate with him again. That would just let other sellers know what they are dealing with. As far as I know I haven't called anyone any names or stated anything that wasn't true. RK may be a stand up guy but I feel like he was wrong for not telling me sooner that it had been sold. Maybe he sold it twice and didn't want to tell me until surfcasters check got there. However without people posting their experiences good or bad then how are we to know. Ebay has the feedback so you kind of have an idea of the people that will make things right and the people not to buy from. I think the buyer beware post are in the same fashion. I do think they get out of hand sometimes, but it does let the other members know that there is someone on this forum that they might wish to avoid doing business with.

All and all my deal was not that bad and that is why I am going to ask that this be deleted. I am not mad at RK and I am not going to lose any sleep especially now that I have my money back. I was just upset because I am the type that when you say you are going to do something then you do it, if not man up and say I'm sorry but I made a mistake and can't do it. Just to let it drag out with someone else's money on the line is just wrong in my eyes. In the future I will just avoid buying anything from him. However I do respectfully disagree about not posting business problems on this forum and using screen names. That is what I think helps keeps everyone honest. It is nice to see a thread like the one tim texas has where people have good thing to say about his rigs and that they were recieved and professionally done, it makes you not worry about sending him any money because you have an idea of how he has treated other people. I just think negative post should be viewed with as much appreciation from buyers and sellers, but I do think only facts should be posted.

Rich, I understand you being upset, but posting it on the forum for all to see was not right. What really got me fired up was that you posted all PM's, except the last one I sent you! It went like this:

" Rich, I apologize. I jumped the gun on this one. I put your check back in the mail on Tuesday the 21st. RK"

I came to you hat in hand, gave you the apology that any man should do and sent back the check. It should have been end of story then.

Next time post all the info. There are 2 sides to every story!!

I am not mad. I am sincerely sorry. I, like the rest of the guys on this board come here to relax, share stories and exchange info. That is what it is all about. I have made some great friends on this site, who I eventually hope to fish with and have some beers.

If you ever find yourself up in New York, shoot me a PM and lets go fishing. We have some excellent striper fishing in October, and if the weather is right we could shoot offshore and chase some blue fin tuna behind the draggers.

So please accept my apology and lets get on with business as usual. RK

Default "stickyness"

I agree - this forum works great when both parties communicate. I have done several sales/purchasesd on this formum and have not gotten burned yet.

It is real annoying when you pay by check and then the seller will not get bac to you with ship information - they seem to not give a squirt because they know it did go out - albeit later than they said they did ship it.

I'm hanging out now waiting to receive a shipment after I have sent paypal a week ago - good news is that paypal offers the buyer some
protection.

too bad we do not have a "buyer/seller rating system" like on ebay
