Default how many hours on a f225 yamaha?

Looking to repower with a 2002 f225 yam but want to know given proper maintenance how many hours will one run? I know it depends on how hard they are run and what type of boating is being done. Will they last for 2000 hrs? thanks for the help

well I had to re power my 95 200HP Johnson this year and my guys at Inland say if I maintain it like I do it should last the same amount as a new power head "motor" but you need to take the time and do the maintenance run a 10 mic. fuel filter, good gas, ring free, and if it is a 2 stroke run good oil " YAMALUBE or OMC oil " get to know your shop guys and they will tell you how to take care of it

PS if your shop is open late one night stop in 1hr to 1 1/2 hr before with a 30 pack

do this 2 or 3 times and you will know every thing you need to keep her running great and any small problems that come up in the year they will be fast to help you

OK I have a friend that has a 250 YH 4 stroke with 2800 hrs on it he re powered with a new one after about a month he had problems with the new one. He put the old one back on and ran it till the new motor was fixed the old one now has 3200 hrs on it and it is still strong.

I would ask a marina that works on YH and has the computer for them to check them out, find out how many hrs they were run at WOT verses other speeds you would like the WOT to be a good amount "remember outboards are made to run at WOT so don't think that running at lower RPMs will make it last longer.

One more thing to look at "if you can" is the boat they come off if it is an old boat but looks like it is in great shape it means he or she takes care of things, rather than a new boat that is trashed and is beat on. Also look at the motors "take the hood off, does it look like it is in good shape or does it look like something you might get at the BONE YARD. Is there grease where it should be but not in excess, do they sound good are you able to run them in a test tank. Were they professionally maintained and WILL HE GIVE YOU A 30, 60 , or even a 90 day return for your money if something goes wrong. lastly if you have a teck look at them it may cost you some cash but they will tell you if you should get them. And he should check the oil and L.U. lube for mettle and other signs of trouble
