Default Best / worst Caribbean islands

What are the best and worst Caribbean islands? Spent a lot of time in St.Kitts and really like it there. Went to Gudaloupe and hated it. Where else should we go / not go?

What are you looking for? Nightlife? Quiet? Casinos? Fishing? Activities?

St Marteen (Martin) would be in the bottom 3.

My favorite is St. Lucia--with incredible all inclusive resorts and the Twin Pitons. See JadeResort.com.

My least favorite has been Jamaica.

not looking for anything in particular. Friendly people, decent food and accommodations,
access to some kind of entertainment are all really. Gudaloupe is dirty, restaurant and hotel staff universally are bad at best and the food was below average everywhere we tried.

Thinking about P.R. for next trip
Been to Aruba good weather, hot, dry, windy. Sunbathe with caution
Grand Cayman nice but $$
Cozumel quaint
Playa Del Carmen nice 2 trips
Dominican Republic O.K. stayed on resort, a lot of european's
Jamaica lousy food but not bad
Bahama's for some reason not memorable
Maui not Caribbean but very nice just too far.

I lived on Barbados for a while, that is a nice place.

I have said many times that the best 2 weeks of my life I spent on a 52 foot Ketch going from Nassau to the Exumas, to Andros, and then to Miami.

Grenada is cool as is the Dominican Republic. I also really enjoyed a visit to Antigua.

The US Virgin Islands are a great visit also.

I'm a fan of the Exumas in the Bahamas....not so much because of the "islands" themselves....but because of the gorgeous sandy bottomed water of gorgeous colors.
Been to Jamaica over a dozen times, Puerto Rico over a half dozen times, several areas of the Bahamas, Dominican Republic,
I love Jamaica for its food and more lush green tropics (not as "dry" as some other islands).
Puerto Rico has a nice mix of everything. My first wife was from there....went down a lot to see her family (Aquadilla..north west corner).

Good to hear, no pass port necessary is one reason. Resorts should be O.K. by now I would think.

Things aren't fantastic in the Dominican Republic part of the island but when you cross over the border to Haiti you get to visit possibly the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.
