Before you spend the money on a new latch, get a wiring diagram showing the connector at the latch. Then figure out which pins need to be jumpered to simulate a close hood. Then, if the "HOOD OPEN" message goes away, it's the hood latch that's bad.

Can you please send me that wiring diagram?

Appreciate it.

Pin A (pink/blk ) is the ajar switch. disconnect and jump pins a & c harness side.
That may indicate hood open, if so then jump pins b and c should indicate closed hood

If I push the lock button twice, quickly, the second push "beeps" the horn and presumably the alarm is then armed? I am going away tomorrow and don't want this thing going off in the middle of the night for 3 days. Neighbors won't be happy.
stuL told you how to lock it without arming the alarm system.
follow his advice.
also you a summed wrong on the remote not arming with the one click
.
test it by locking doors with remote and then unlock door with key not the remote and open door.

owners manual should have this info
