Default Spam calls from spoofed #'s

Almost once per day I get a phone call from spoofed number usually local on my cell phone, many others that I talk to do also. Two different people that I have spoken with have actually got spam phone calls from their own number. I have signed up on a do not call registry & it does not stop it and since the number is spoofed there is no way to turn in who is calling. Pretty aggravating and most people I know don't answer the phone anymore if they don't recognize the number, its really a shame. I am going to start telling them that the line is cutting out and to call me back at a different number, then I'm going to give them the number to my local representative. Maybe then something will get done about it.

Anybody else have a good way to deal with these A holes?

I usually hate government intervention, but if we ever needed a new law, robo callers would be jailed.

If I don't recognize the number, I don't answer. People who know me, know this. People who don't know me will leave a message if it's important.

My sister-in-law shows "Restricted". 99 out of 100 times, if I see "Restricted" it's her, and I still don't answer. If she wants to talk to me she can unblock.

Few people are special enough to have restricted numbers.

On topic, I get between 3 and 5 spam calls a day.. Want to reach through the phone and throat punch them.

I say we find these robo spoof calling extended auto warranty, luxury vacations, and affordable health insurance companies and burn them out.

I was led to download the first 3 tones of a disconnected phone # ? You know.... Booo BOOOOO BOOOOOOOP (from you tube) on my voice mail message. Any robo callers automatically block my # and and hang up immediately . It seems to have worked quite a bit because between that and the Truecaller App I have installed (this takes a LOT of work at first) my robo calls are down DRASTICALLY.

Do you think members of congress have to put up with this?

I have to believe that the phone company is involved in enabling these calls. Their systems have to know the actual calling number and they can read that the spoofed number doesn't match the calling number. Nothing could convince me that this isn't true. They obviously get revenue from putting calls through, I think a few years in jail for a few CEO's would stop this in it's tracks.

Won't happen. Their lobbyists are too busy giving campaign donations to the elected officials for anything to happen.

Nope. The lobbyists paying congress not to implement anti-robo calling laws have a special deal whereby the company paying the lobbyist has a special "do not dial" system set up for the members of congress.

You don't jail CEO's who have lobbyists that provide campaign donations to members of congress. It would have an affect on bribes. Excuse me, I meant campaign donations.

I just found this recently, but if you have AT&T, you have to specifically opt out of them selling your phone number. Here is the opt out form, they don’t make it easy and it goes through a “process”.

By law, all cell phone carriers have to give you this option of opting out, but they don’t have to tell you if they already gave your number out:

now, that doesn’t stop others from selling your number (insurance companies or any other lending companies). Bastards!

My phone will often identify a call as a SPAM call so I just push the "block phone number" and if they call again from the same number the call won't come through. The problem is I don't even know how many numbers I have blocked but I still get SPAM calls from new numbers every day. I recently started to get texts now advertising shit, I hate it but what more can I do but block the numbers?
