Most robo calls i got in one day was 27. I have over 1000 numbers blocked and it has seemed to slow down a bit. Still getting 3 to 4 a day most days. Usually none on the weekends.

I almost put a disclaimer on my new website that you must leave me a voicemail or risk having your number blocked...un less your name is displayed with your number. For the past few months, I have been getting calls with a name displayed and it was still a spam call....

Since I get calls from all over, I have no way of knowing if the call is legitimate or not. I do use nomorobo and that seems to help some, but the number of calls that I have blocked must be in the thousands.

I sometimes wonder what the hell will happen to anyone who gets one of those numbers on down the line..?

I just send numbers I don't recognize and auto dismiss text saying something like, " I can't talk right now. Send me a text." If it's someone I need to talk to they will.

Google added a spam label/filter app to their Android OS. It's built into the OS as a feature now, no need for 3rd party apps. Works very well.

Was added to their OS some time last year, I saw it on my Google Pixel. Other carrier versions of Android or other phones may be slower in releasing their Android OS updates so they may not have the feature yet, but each time you do an update look for it. Easy to find....see above link.

This is true for our area.

We work a lot with law enforcement agencies.

If it's a spoofed call it is a scam. Don't know if anything can be done. I receive spoofed calls and my number has been spoofed.

I feel your pain.

Last week I got 17 in under 5 minutes from the same #. I answered the first one which is rare since I usually don't answer if I don't recognize the #.
I blocked it after the second call, but my phone still notifies me when it blocks a call. I turned the phone off to stop the calls.

I normally hang up immediately once I hear it's a recording but if you listen to the whole thing there's usually an option to be put on their do not call list by pressing 2. I seem to be getting less after doing this.

They obviously get revenue from putting calls through, I think a few years in jail for a few CEO's would stop this in it's tracks.

Until very recently, all phone companies were REQUIRED BY LAW to pass though any phone call, even if the caller ID info was spoofed. This would be similar to the Post Office being required to deliver any mail that's addressed to your house (even junk mail).

Only recently - within the last several months - has the FCC changed that stance and have given direction to the phone companies to come up with a plan on how they would identify "spoofed" numbers and a plan to block them. So far, the details haven't been ironed out and the FCC has elevated their "concern" to the phone industry that the problem is not getting enough traction. The companies CAN BE FINED if they block a call that should have been allowed, so they are very apprehensive about putting in a system that might put them at risk of fines.

I'm sure lots of LEOs are using spoofing apps now.

Hey!!! I just learned how to multi quote!

VERY BAD idea if you're trying to minimize the calls you get. When you answer or respond in ANY way, YOUR number IMMEDIATELY gets flagged as a "Good" number and becomes MUCH more valuable on the exchanges.

I've kinda' wondered a time or two if these calls aren't some kind of software program that connects cell phones to devices. Many of us get the calls, then go online to search the number. Once we go online to search the number, there's a web browser connection to the device or a computer. So there's a date, time, mac address, ip address, etc. "linked" together. Some would say why?? Well we change cell phones and numbers all the time so the database would have to be updated continuously for any value.

Anyone doing all this blocking, texting, ignoring, etc etc......try NoMoRobo for a week. You will not regret it. No affiliation.

If it's important enough they will come to your house or place of work. Plus most law enforcement will identify as such on caller ID. Dozens of free or cheap call blockers out there or simply don't answer any calls you don't recognize.

Ditto, I get spoof calls from my own number and spam email from myself. I wish I had the faith some people do that government regulations could solve these problems.

The only solution is for people to stop buying what they're selling and falling for the scams. If these didn't produce revenue they wouldn't be doing them.

The problem is Mike, they're not after us. They're trying to con our parents (my mother's 87) .

I look at it this way, there HAS to be a way to stop this. And if strict laws stop or curtail this ...GOOD. And if this curtails businesses , so be it. Maybe these businesses need to get involved in the elimination of this .

If the technology exists to DO this then the technology probably exists to stop it .

doesnt matter what blocker you use, they change the number by one and it gets through. Just don’t answer, if you don’t know the number.
