Default Watercolor painting question

My son’s girlfriend is a great artist. She gave us a painting of our pup and I love it. So my question is how much should she charge. She doesn’t want to charge to much but I think she should get more. For a 8.5” x 11” she is charging $50 - $75.

Heres mine and my sons dogs for an example.

She gave you something you obviously cherish and will cherish for many many years to come, why not return the gesture by buying her an easel, a painters tarp.....something that she doesn't have but would use for many years to come. It doesn't have to be worth hundreds it's the thought behind the gift that would make it special. Maybe she's never been to the Art Museum and a pass for two would be a thoughtful gift as well? Money gets pissed away so easily, get her something that will last.

8 1/2" x 11" original? She is shorting herself. Beautiful work. If you want I'll send her a pic of lil' Otis and pay her at least $100.

Retired illustrator here - she has talent there & whatever she charges should go up over time after she gets established as her experience level will help further her skills

I would start pricing at 100 unframed & go up from there - not all dogs/pets are created equal & some are easier to execute than others

Timing is the other factor - once she is really busy I would be inclined to create a standard 30 day policy for turnaround times and charge a premium for rush orders

A lot of people want it now

Lastly - I would encourage her to request several pics as not everyone takes a good photo

Tell her good luck & regards

I think that's right about what my niece charges. She has more work than she can do. Told me back during Christmas holidays, she has over 300 orders.

How much was the paint by numbers kit? Add 25% on top of that. (J/K)

Very nice work. I'd like to get one for my wife. PM me when she's ready.
