Default April the Giraffe

How many wives or significant others are still glued to their phones, watching April's new family addition, after spending the last week watching April "going" into labor? And OMG, the birth! And how many of you thought about saying something negative and succeeded in keeping your big mouths shut? I kept my pie hole shut. I was so quiet she actually asked me if something was wrong LOL.

I watched the birth. What possible negative thing could you say about a giraffe giving birth?

It's fascinating to watch all the people so involved with animal births, eagle nests etc. Are they the same people that think post birth human abortions are OK?

Why not? Why do people watch the walking dead, or nascar, or basketball?

THT Brownie points for Bringing late stage abortion into the mix right away. Seems super relevant.

You don't find that ironic?

Yesterday, I tried to have a conversation with my wife about some financial decisions. She couldn't, she was watching her tablet instead and couldn't focus on talking to me. "What are you reading?" I asked. She sheepishly said "The giraffe." I walked away made the decision myself. We make financial decisions together - it's her future too - but letting a pregnant giraffe be more important doesn't strengthen my confidence in her decision making. Keep watching the giraffe. I've got this.

The wife for the longest time was calling the giraffe Alice, not April..........I was saying to the wife she was watching paint dry.

For the few moments I saw of it here and there I would say the staff was very immature and unprofessional.

And I would think for the amount of money the link generated they would have had more than one camera in her stall and or the one they had more properly pointed......supposedly the viewers didn't even get to see the actual birth because of poor camera placement.

Never heard of April the Giraffe. Perhaps she is the reason I had to make a hasty retreat under a barrage of thrown coffee mugs and silverware when I told my wife I wanted to hunt giraffe on my next safari?

wonder if giraffe's are like cows, the younger ones are more tender and flavorful ? giraffe Parmesan maybe? would it pair better with a white or red wine? maybe redneck it up a little, cook it hole with a watermelon in its mouth?

When, I was in South Africa last year we came on a giraffe killed by lions, They had not started on the carcass yet as they were finishing up giraffe "veal" and afterbirth.
Mom lost the fight.

Yeah, it is like those freaks that watch an eagle cam day after day. Well, maybe a bit different if the site has seven cameras with a few being 4K cameras. The chat moderated by some expert eagle watchers is pretty cool, too.

And not sure about April's camera, but 1350 classrooms use this site with a dedicated classroom chat.
Decorah Eagles Nest Cam

Congrats to the giraffe watchers.

April is a local resident of our little Zoo in Greenville SC. Watching her births (now 5 I think) and naming the babies has become a tradition in our area. I visit her from time to time. My Grandson has grown up with her and has done the behind the scenes tour a few times into her paddock. Wasn't aware she had such a wide audience.
