Would have been much funnier on Facebook if the pelican had plucked one or both of his eyes out.

Funny thing is if he was a drunk on Duval and was videoed punching some old guy in the face no one would care.

I'll do ya one better and say this guy needs a bullet.

Extreme? Yes...but there is no possible justification for treating an animal like that all for social media eyeballs. It points to other issues, which is obvious looking at his record.

Society has no use for him.

The whole act was dumb, but to post it on FB then act like a DB about eating a pelican..... People never cease to amaze me with their stupidity.

I dont give a shit if he jumped on a rattle snake. Looking at his record, he needs to be out of the gene pool.

I banged some chick that I picked up at the Brass Monkey last June, I know, not key west, but better than jumping on on a pelican.

There's a good chance you and I have something in common, as well as many others over the last twenty years.

I have hooked at least a half-dozen pelicans, including one off Key West and three in the ‘Glades. Damn things fly into the line when jig fishing for trout, the jig slides up to the wing, and the drag screams. I always throw my shirt over their head, which calms them pretty well, then remove the hook. On one, I removed 3 other hooks. Thank goodness no one had a camera, or I might be facing John Law. Zero interest in jumping on one for jollies...

I've hooked pelicans and boobies that have dived on my lures while trolling before (in MEXICO, not Florida). Always figured that's a damn good lure -- if it can fool a bird, it can fool a fish. Pain in the ass to reel in a squawking, flapping, pecking angry bird and unhook 'em. They usually get hooked in the edge of the wing. Got grab 'em by the neck to keep 'em from pecking yer eyes out while somebody removes the hook. All were released just fine, other than being a little pissed off and humiliated.

But that falls into completely unintentional contact. What that boy did is just plain stupid!

You did nothing wrong though, accident vs intentional makes all the difference.

Hey, the the 100+ pounds of dolphin (mahi for the yankees and hawaiians) is well worth the 200 pounds of girl from the brass monkey. Although last year I got a 110 pounder, she liked tequila.
