Of all that probably went on in Key West in that day alone, this one makes the highlight reel? The bird flew off and didn't appear hurt. There certainly isn't a shortage of pelicans. This is just another example of a hammered tourist doing something stupid. I'm surprised the dude wasn't naked or something.

What else do you think goes on around here?

For the most part it is a fun place to enjoy yourself sure there are oddities and the occasional woman that needs to shave her cooch in traffic (Female driver shaving genitals causes accident in Florida) but assholes jumping on federally protected animals is pretty big news and frowned upon.

If it was injured or killed it would of been real ugly for the aforementioned asshole, I guarantee he would of been locked up on Stock Island.

The only time I ever did anything remotely close was when I was taking a walk with my wife and very young niece and nephew in a park. The kids were around 5 and 6 years old and little did we know the danger of approaching a pair of Canada geese and their 8 chicks. We weren't even that close actually and on the path anyway but the next thing I know either the male or female was airborne about 4ft off the ground making a straight line for my little niece. My wife pulls her away but the bird was super aggressive and kept coming at them. The wife is screaming lol and I just grabbed the goose by the neck and bear-hugged it to stop it from attacking. My wife and the two little ones ran to the parking lot and I held the bird for a few seconds until I had a clear shot to let it go and scram outta there. I wasn't planning on handling the thing but really didn't have a choice. That bird probably weighed more than my little niece at the time. We made it outta there safely lol.

These things can be vicious and very protective of their chicks when the feel threatened by you being too close to them.

Their bark is worse than their bite. All show no go. One attacked me, and other than a bunch of fluttering they can't hurt you at all. They weigh about 2 pounds and the bite is like getting pinched by a clothspin. No need to "duck" and cover (see what I did there). I actually freaked out at first, but then when it bit me I just laughed at it and said "LOL you can't hurt me"

He broke the law just as he has many times before. Drugs, robbery and all sorts of shit.

I would bet a FWC arrest would put him in violation of his probation of which he should be on with his record.

I hope they pop him for the federal wildlife violation and ship him back north for some more jail time.

I love how the "well, it IS Key West" sentiment somehow makes doing illegal things okay.
The guy is a piece of shit no matter what city it is.

Who is is the victim?

Public humiliation? Fine - he posted it to social media. He gets every bit of public backlash that he gets.

Whats the crime though? Did he injure the animal?

Come to Monroe county for vacation and leave with record if you act like the fool who did this, funny his own video will take him down.

Overall, this will not be forgotten about here (Key West) it happened in a very public place and has gotten a ton of attention

Regarding the chicken reference, bless your heart son....

Amazing how all you ladies always have such an emotional response to everything that happens.

Ever think about sitting back, relaxing, and not living so triggered?

Wasnt even raining this weekend.

if you want to be treated like an adult act like one, EZPZ

did you read ANY article about this? its stated pretty clearly what the punishable offenses are but I am thinking some short busís may of been in your past so let me copy and paste the following from the article, if you canít read it let me know and I will send it out for dictation and repost a .mp3 so you can better understand

From the miami herald article:

Florida prohibits trying to even attract a pelican.

ďThe intentional feeding or the placement of food that attracts pelicans and modifies the natural behavior of the pelican so as to be detrimental to the survival or health of a local population is prohibited,Ē the rule states.

People are nuts.

I actually caught a thieving pelican on Stock Island while fishing for grunts and snapper in the harbor. I reeled in the bird, grabbed him by the neck, and unhooked him while some ladies nearby went NUTS.

Literally screaming and threatening to call the police. Would have thought I was clubbing a baby seal or something.

I suppose the fact that the idiot is already a felon makes throwing the book at him a little less extreme. For your average drunk tourist being prosecuted and locked up for jumping on a pelican's back seems a tad extreme. Where I live we have this jail over crowding problem. Must not be an issue down there.

Go to Florida for vacation, come home on probation. More video of supremely stupid things people do when drunk on vacation in Florida.

This is great, I hope they throw the book at him.

People that mess with wildlife just for the hell of it, scare/injure a relatively defenseless animal, are scum. A sign of other disturbing issues. F him.
