Default Garage Makeover

I been in my current home since 2010. Ever since settling in I have been telling myself I was going to get my garage in order, getting crap off of the floor and making sure I had a place for everything easily within reach. Sadly the years went by and things continued to get even more cluttered. Finally this year I decided it was time for a change. One of the first things was to configure my wall and floor space taking in to account that I still needed a place to store my work tool boxes out of the way but easy to get to depending on my needs. The next was to add cabinet space for the things I use the most as well as a place for stuff that I need to keep but don't use as often.

Next came the fact that I hate the cheap white cabinets that came from our last home to this one. My wife wanted to keep them in order to save a few bucks so I agreed. Every time I would walk in to the garage I would roll my eyes. They just don't work and since I already had the Gladiator wall track I elected to use it to my advantage. The first order of business was to arrange my shelves and baskets and then I purchased two of the Gladiator wall boxes and mounted them on the back wall. It was around this time that I decided to add a little art to the walls and have photos of many of my current and past cars as well as boats on all four garage walls. With the added track lighting I have installed it makes for a nice touch and starts plenty of conversations when the neighbors come over to hang out.

Next I finally got rid of those awful white cabinets and in their place I have installed a 36x72" gear box along with three 28x31" gear boxes. My plan all along was to install the 31" cabinets side by side and then build a counter top over them. I didn't much care for the Gladiator work bench and the small wood tops that fit on the 31" cabinets are over $50 bucks a piece. Instead I made frames out of furring strips that fit in to the tops of the three gear boxes and used Gorilla glue to hold them in place. I then purchased a 2'x8' Birch butcher block counter top and cut it down to 21"x87" and glued it to the furring strips mounted on the gear boxes. I then took the piece that I cut off of the counter top and used it as a back splash of sorts. Finally I added some color changing LED's that add a touch of light to the bottom of the Gladiator track. It adds a touch of ambience alone with my neon clock over the center of the garage door.

A few more touches I have since added is a soundbar and sub for the television, loft shelves over the refrigerator and safe, as well as cleaning and painting all of the trim and walls. Here is a photo of a before and after on the back wall to give you an idea of what I was dealing with!

Yep, I’m going to get to that someday. Smart man, dial lock instead of keypad.

You seem fickle, or something... can't you pick an auto manufacturer and stick with it????

Of all the upgrades done on various garages I think the best was the floor, epoxy paint, high sheen, reflects so much more light. Naturally filling it with muscle cars is a no brainer!!

Talking Nice!

The garage and the ride contained in the garage are stunning! Now just burn the Mopar and Corvette flags and you will be done!

Gotta be the golf cart, right?

My great uncle had a three wheeler Harley golf cart. It was so much fun to drive around when we were kids...
