Default McDonalds

No one in my immediate family eats there....and I might visit once or twice a year. Usually when the McRib comes around...

Today I was running short on time after making a FedEx drop, and McD's was right around the corner. Picked up a meal to bring home to eat. Big mistake.

Big Mac meal, with fries and a Dr Pepper was what I ordered. $7.42 was the total. I can actually remember the ads from years ago that showed you getting a lunch meal, with a drink and change back from a $1. But I'm old. Old enough to also remember the .15c signs for a burger...

I was early and it was before the crowd hit, so I guess the fries were not the freshest, they were not as crisp and not fryer fat hot like I remember. The 20 oz drink was crammed to the top with ice, and I could see through the liquid...if there was a 1/8 oz of syrup mixed with all that soda water I would be amazed. Two very thin grey brown burger patties were mixed in with the special sauce, a half strip of cheese if that, and some lettuce and a pickle slice. I added some ketchup for taste.

Thankfully my dog eats anything...so she got over half of the meal.

Yuck..

Yep. I have small kids so we had a tendancy to eat McDonalds a couple of times a month. Wife and I have stopped eating there all together now along with one of my kids. The other is quickly developing a dislike as well (6 years old). To the delight of my wife and I, we have stopped going all together. All of this shift in quality has been slowly taking place over the past couple of years, however for some reason there was a very noticeable difference in quality over the past few months where the food is genuinely inedible now.

Local place here has freshly ground burgers that one can order rare, with homemade chips, for $8.95...and Carolina Pale Ale on tap for $3.

McDonald's and Wendy's are dead to me with their prices compared to quality.

On a recent road trip we did stop at a Dairy Queen...and it was excellent for the price.

McD's was sorta tolerable when it was inexpensive. Now they charge nearly as much as a local diner that serves REAL food.

I got a big mac like six months ago on a whim. First time in years. Ate the thing and felt like crap for several hours.

Never again.

We dumped McD's years ago. Maybe once in a rare while we will get a mcflurry or a cone...but nothing else.

Wendys on the other hand....no problems, same with chick-fila. Good stuff. And Hardies (aka Carl Jrs)

Quite a few local diners have gone out of business, in some part due to the proliferation of fast food places. The majority of consumers seem to prefer the fast food places.

Yep the last time I stopped at McDonalds the gal at the drivethru window had those fake nails that look like talons holding her nasty cell phone. Needless to say my wife and I got really sick about two days after. Rolling the dice at most fast food joints regarding employees that know how and actually care enough to practice sanitary food handling.

Tried Burger King last friday for the first time in probably 10 yrs. The key as with any of the cardiac arrest joints, is to ask for fresh. I said I would like the meal fresh if at all possible and it was actually good. I could tell it was fresh since it took a little longer and the fries were not saturated in salt, they come without salt when cooked fresh. I may try them again in 10.

I call BS on the people getting sick from McDonalds. Sure their food is not the best but the burger is still just hamburger meat, the bun is still just a bun. How would that make you sick?

I am no food snob. I eat awful stuff all the time.

McDonald's is the most awful of the awful. Every burger looks like two guys assembled it while playing horseshoes. It's always a crap shoot whether the fries will be overdone or underdone. The fries might have no salt and they might be mostly salt. The girl at the counter can't be bothered to take your order. The ketchup dispenser is empty and if you ask for ketchup, you get an attitude - and two packs of ketchup. The soda dispenser will foam up because the CO2 tank is almost empty - every time. The trash cans are full and overflowing.

I hate that place. Fast food in general is awful. Somehow McDonalds became the industry leader by being the worst. I don't know what lesson that teaches.
