Default THT member shoutout

About a month ago I posted a WTB ad for a sailfish 2660. THT member fishingredcat reached out to me letting me know he was thinking about selling his boat in the near future. We began communicating about the boat and he sent me pictures. I live in Ohio and he lives in Texas. During this month period he had numerous people inquire about buying his boat, but he told them he already had committed to someone and if deal fell through he would reach out to them. No deposit was ever given. Long story short I flew out to San Antonio yesterday and flight got in 3 hours late at midnight, he picked me up at the airport, and gave me a place to stay. This morning he drove us 3 hours away to look at the boat, allowed a marine mechanic to do a pre purchase inspection on the boat and motors, which took 3 hours. After that we did a sea trial and I had seen enough. We drove boat back to storage and then made the 3 hour drive back to San Antonio and his wife made us dinner. Papers signed after dinner. If anyone ever has any dealings with fishingredcat just know you are dealing with a stand up guy who goes above and beyond to help you in anyway possible.

That is awesome.

This is the way we should all act and I hope this happens more than the opposite but we just don’t hear about it. Now if this thread was “I got screwed by forum member X” then we would see 10 pages.

LOL - I thought the title said "Shoot-out"....

That being said, congrats on your purchase and a great boat. I have the 266, which is a bit older. Be happy you have the updated layout and awesome console.

I'm glad the PO took good care of you and hope you aren't going home right away. If you have some time, head downtown to see the Alamo museum and have lunch on the river walk.

Forgot to mention. The boat is stored in an enclosed storage unit which is paid for til next year. He transferred it to my name free of charge and can stay there til I get a new truck to pull it back with.

I find a majority of THT people that are actually “meetable” are good people. I can think of only one or two out of dozens that turned out to be sleazy.

Purchasing a new truck in the next month and then driving down to get it. Unless you know someone who can transport it for cheap lol
