Default Ever Been Exposed To Tear Gas?

Yesterday was a first for me, and even though I was just dealing with the aftermath, that was some nasty stuff.

Had a lady contact me about moving a safe yesterday, but she sort of forgot to tell me that the house had been tear gassed the night before. I won't get into details as to preserve her privacy, but it involved her estranged husband's suicide. Once I arrived at the location, her friend told me that we couldn't enter the house on the main level because of the tear gas. I'm like, alrighty then. Seems LE had fired a number of rounds of it into the home in an attempt to thwart the suicide. Needless to say, it was an exercise in futility. I never knew cops would do that in such a case, but they apparently do.

The safe was in the basement, and we had to hook my trailer to his 4WD truck to get it down there. Unfortunately, she couldn't find the combination for the safe, so it was still full of... whatever. That always makes it fun. Yes, I contacted the sheriff's department to make sure this was all on the up and up, and they confirmed this lady as being the deceased's wife. As I was coming out the door with it, the side of my face began burning. "Oh yeah, they fired tear gas through that door. Don't rub it or it'll just make it worse." Alrighty then!

We got into his truck and saw the widow and her friend had loaded up a bunch of clothes in the back seat. No sooner than I closed the door did I start having a lot of trouble breathing. I hit the ground walking and told him I would meet him at the top where my truck was parked. He made it up the hill beside the house and got out choking and coughing. Later when I got back home, just removing my sweatshirt stirred things up again. Hopefully just washing my clothes will take care of it, but I know they were talking about how much it was going to cost to get the house cleared of it. Apparently that stuff is pretty nasty and sticks around.

It's lots of fun! We used to gas each other for giggles. Pepper spray on the hands makes wrestling more entertaining too.

When I was in college, on a dare, I went to a local office complex with a can of mace. I stuck it in the mail drop on the front door. I kept squeezing until I saw someone running toward the door, then I took off running. They were too busy coughing and crying to chase me. Me and my buddies watched through the office windows at the chaos, laughing hysterically. I'm not saying it was nice, and I'm not saying I condone such a dick move, but it sure was funny when I was 18.

I figured you military guys would have experience with it, but I really wasn't expecting to see anybody doing it for fun.

According to a couple of LEO friends, pepper spray is a lot easier to get rid of than tear gas, but making the switch is expensive. Hopefully this will be my first and last time to have to mess with it, but I can only imagine what taking a full dose of that stuff would be like.

Did it quite a bit in Panama both in the field and chamber. CS gas. In the chamber we had to take off the mask and have a conversation about whatever question was asked. First was the usual name, rank and stuff. If the instructor didn't think you had a good "whif of Gif" he would ask how's your mom. What was her name, where did you live etc. About the time the snot was hanging down to your chest/waist area he would finally let you go. In the field we used the heck out of CS grenades when attacking our foes in the jungle. Heck of a lot of fun days.

twice, both times after football games. Try to catch your breath while running away, not fun. Took a rubber bullet off my chest, that left a bruise. I was not involved in any riots for the record I was just sitting in my porch lmao

I have been multiple times. Wasn't that big of a deal until we got the Q-tips swabbed into our eyes. That was pretty unpleasant.

Every time was by the Humboldt County Sheriff's Department.

Most of the times I was simply sprayed for being locked to a logging road gate or a piece of equipment. They would spray us to get us to release my hands from inside the lockbox. We got better and better at sucking it up.

The more you get sprayed, the easier it becomes to overcome. Becomes mental.

The worst method was they began to realize that we were sucking it up and the spraying wasn't working so well. So the Humboldt Sheriff's decided to spray the tear gas into a Dixie cup and then use a Q-tip and hold our heads back and swab our eyes with the Q-tip. HOLY SHIT. You gotta be tough to hold through that.

We sued the Sheriff after theybstarted using the Q-tips. Last time was a takeover of US Rep Frank Riggs office. We took a redwood stump in an chained up in the middle of his office in Eureka, CA. They Q-tipped. We sued and won $1.00 and they aren't allowed to use Q-tips to apply tear gas to our eyes anymore.

1979 is. Kansas concert. Some people knucklehead decided was cool to set off tear gas on the floor of the venue.
We thought is was part of the show. It wasn't.
Finally realized what it was after it was too late. People jumping in the fountains outside the venue.
Don't even think it made the papers. I'm sure today it would have been a different story.

Well that explains alot. By the way that was probably OC (pepper spray) not CS "tear gas" Huge farking difference. Ive had pepper spray (sabre red) shot right into my eyes from about 2 feet away, thanks to an instructor who thought he was funny. I could feel the spray go right up under my eyelids. I was still able to beat him senseless during the exercise. Its irratating but not a big deal, if a little qtip with some OC on it beat you then youre not much of a bad ass. You should maybe give up protests. CS gas sucks a little more but it goes away pretty quickly. Neither is debillitating if you dont panic.
