Default "Right to try"

Federal law enacted by the Potus, which allows terminally ill patients access to ALL drugs which may be beneficial to them. About freaking time!!!!

righttotry.org.

PLEASE do not make this political. They're are several on this board who's lives can be effected by this law and I don't want it going downward!

Thank you!

I run a brain cancer organization. We fought hard to get right to try enacted but it turned out not to really work. As far as I know only 2 cancer patients ever received a drug through this pathway.
Drug companies are afraid the fda will punish them for using it.

This came up at a conference last weekend, due to the issue above it's not likely to gain widespread use. Am aware of two instances where it could have been used in the last 5 years, both were rare if you go by the numbers. But hey anything helps, definitely the right direction.

Crap.........I'm so very sorry to hear that! A member's wife was just diagnosed with terminally ill cancer and I was praying this would be helpful. If and when he posts looking for help, I would please ask that both of you help him out as much as possible.
Right now there just all devastated and still working on Dr's and things.

How can I help to move this along????
Who can I call???

If the prognosis is death, why not try anything? What in the hell does the patient have to lose?

get arrested for illegal drugs then raped by bubba while in jail, then dying before you get out, that would kinda suck!

That's the whole point. Because of draconian FDA rules in place because Lawyers have completely screwed up this country you can't just try any drug because there would be a multi million dollar lawsuit. Even if a drug has shown huge life saving potential, if it's not yet FDA approved..... (meaning...the drug manufacturers have paid enough graft to the FDA) then it takes many, many years, sometimes decades for approval. Many, many cancer patients die waiting for drug approval because they can't afford to fly oversea's where the drug is being utilized. One of the very disturbing & disgusting pharmacy and FDA problems faced by tens of thousands each and every day!
