Smile Something sweet for Ronald McDonald House Charities

EDITED ON 1/16 - There has been some confusion to the donations that have been made on line and where they go vs. donations made in person to the troop. Online donations go to the USO and in-person donations go to the charity of our choice (Ronald McDonald). Girl Scouts is working on reallocating the online orders since we wanted them to do to RMH. Moving forward if you would like to make a donation to RMH just pick your flavors, choose delivered by girl scout. I will pull those orders and have them delivered to Ronald McDonald. Sorry for the confusion! - Megan

Hi guys! - This is JP's daughter Megan, posting with his permission!

John's granddaughter Addison is a girl scout and her troop is selling girl scout cookies. The girls were able to pick a charitable cause for their donated cookies and the opted for Ronald McDonald House.

Addie's younger sister has Spina Bifida. Before she was born Nessa and I underwent fetal surgery to repair her back. In 2016 we lived at the Ronald McDonald house in Philadelphia for 4 months. They were such a blessing in helping our family in our journey and we have watched so many families benefit from the sunshine they bring when days can be filled with worry. Little things (like Thin Mints) can make a big difference! Nessa has had a few surgeries since she was born and we call the house home when we return to Philadelphia.

We are looking forward to showing up on their doorstep with boxes and boxes of cookies but we need some help. If you are interested you can donate a box online. Just click the link below, scroll down to donate and you can pay online!
If you are a fan of girl scout cookies you can also order some to be shipped to you!

Thank you so much!
Megan & Addie

Had some personal experience with Ronald MacDonald house here is Aus, and it is one of the few charities I contribute to regularly, don't know about in the US, but here they do a fantastic job.

I too once stayed at Ronald McDonald House. I also donate to them whenever I can. My youngest son had bone issues when he was younger. We took him to AI DuPont's in Wilmington DE. A pediatric orthopedic surgeon "fixed" him back up. The doctors name was Dan Mason. I am not sure where Dr. Dan is now but he was a saint to my family. It is a remarkable children's facility. You only have to walk into the front door to realize that your problems are not so bad after all. I would highly recommend it to anyone without hesitation. Do you remember where you were on 9/11? I do---I was at AI DuPont's in Wilmington..

Thank you so much to everyone that donated! Love hearing personal stories from other families that stayed at a house.
The girls are looking forward to arriving with a carload of cookies & cooking dinner for the families!!

Megan and Addie,
You guys are great! Good for you.

We spent 17 + years going to A I Dupont and CHOP for my daughter, spending days , weeks and months at a time.
Had more then a few meals at the Ronald Mcdonald house in Delaware. we were lucky that we were only 30 miles away so we did not have to stay even though they offered.
We did not want to take a room from a traveler that needed it.

We volunteered our time on more then a few occasions at the RM House. in the kitchen, clean whatever they needed.

Our son collected can tabs for them, and they gave him an award for the amount he collected on numerous occasions.

Do you really want the cookies, or can we donate money without having to buy anything?

Right now our goal is cookies for the house but Ronald Mcdonald is certainly always open to financial donations. The Girl Scouts are focusing on maybe making the familieís stays a little better!
