This is unaceptable.
A lot of it has to do with how people are raised. This younger generation is brought up differently than previous generations. In this younger generation everyone gets participation trophies, no winners or losers, and they are never told "no". The big thing is they are never held accountable for anything. The first time they are told "No" or held accountable is by the police and they do not know how to cope with it.

It is amusing to hear people rant about the police only to find out they have been arrested multiple times.

The media also stokes the flames of anti police with the 24 hour news cycle overanalyzing something they do not understand. My favorite is when they get their LE expert who is a retired bigshot commander from a department. These folks are so far out of touch with current LE that they would likely struggle to do something as simple as safely conducting a traffic stop.

Terrible news, RIP to this young lady

I have a female LEO that works PT for me and I worry about her all the time. When I hear of stuff like this I send her a text reminding her to BE CAREFUL OUT THERE (Hill St Blues ). Her Mom is my Secretary and has told me that I would never know how much my texts mean to her

My THANKS to all that serve and put their live’s on the line to protect not only us good folks but also that loads of POS’s they deal with as well

Special folks

I have had several times during my career where I walk away from a call and tell myself that it just wasn't my day to die. I think lots of officers experience this during their career. Unfortunately not all of us are this lucky.

On a side note a co worker told me he recently saw where per capita our county is the #26 most violent crime ridden in the nation. I told him I thought that we had better criminals than that.

Chief Darren Pytel described an inexplicable attack that began just before 7 p.m. near 5th and D streets as Corona responded to a minor three-car collision.

As she stood talking to one of the motorists, the gunman glided up on a bicycle, stopping in the shadows on a sidewalk, then walked toward the 22-year-old rookie police officer and began firing.

“The suspect basically just opened up firing, shot her once and she went down to the ground, and he ended up shooting her multiple times,” Pytel said at a news conference Friday night at police headquarters. “At that point, he unloaded a magazine, reloaded and started shooting in another direction.”

People are no longer taught to have good morals. People say it’s the younger generations fault for everything and yeah sometimes it is. But look how relaxed parenting has become in the last few generations. I see way too many parents that want to be “friends” with their kids when they are young instead of being disciplinarians that teach respect for others. Not in every case but in most cases you can look at a person and see a replica of the parents who raised them. We are very conservative, God fearing parents and our 4 children have turned out. Our kids were taught to fear us, not a scared fear but reverence. They all were taught to respect their elders and people who are put in authority. As the Bible says, you reap what you sow.

The shooting 24 hours before was indiscriminate, Pytel said: Corona, who was wearing a protective vest, was shot in the neck and went down, then shot numerous more times.

“This clearly, to us, looks like an ambush,” the chief said, adding, “At this point, we’re speculating that she never saw him.”

After shooting Corona, the gunman opened up on the surrounding scene, striking a nearby fire engine, a house, a passing bus, shooting through a backpack worn by a young woman who was saved when the round lodged in a textbook, and firing at a firefighter running away who was struck in his boot but uninjured.

Rest in peace Natalie! I don't even know what to say. A beautiful young life just snuffed out.
That picture above brought tears to my eyes.

RIP Officer Corona...I feel for these young officers and the new challenges in LE they face. I have 7 more years to survive in this line of work. Things sure have changed since I first started.

Officer Deaths by Year - National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund

There's no big spike in the law officer death rate during the previous president's tenure. You can blame him for a lot of things, but if you want to blame him for increasing law enforcement deaths, you're going to have to provide some explanation of why you think that, and some evidence to back it up.

ok, maybe.
But no question he promoted a general lack of respect for LEO.
and no doubt he did NOT have their backs.

Not good enough. They need to hang in the public square with the body left for birds to pick at. Want medieval? Give it to 'em.
