I donít participate in self checkout at all. If I canít have a person check me out I park the cart and leave. Those stores are training us to make them more money. All the while eliminating jobs. [email protected] that.
The only good thing about big box stores is that they will take anything back. I installed a new sink last weekend and cracked it on the way in. Took that three hundred dollar bitch back. Lady asked what was wrong with it. It has a crack I told her. No more questions asked. No lies told.
New sink.

Im a business owner. I'm not giving my hard-earned money to a store that doesn't care about what I think. If they don't care enough to keep thugs out of their parking lots, illegal aliens out of their parking lots and hire local people to run their cash registers, I am DAMN sure not going to check myself out with broken ass kiosks and make them money they didn't earn other than by cutting costs.

Accountants and attorneys ( other than mine, they are vicious assholes, and if I need one, thats the kind I like LOL ) are all useless POS in the business world. Somehow, they think they make a perfectly good business better, but they don't.

We have 2 home depots and a lowes with a few miles of my house. I prefer lowes and shop there 90% of the time. Too many yankee contractors at hd...

$300 / $10 hr = 1 cashier / 30 hr . Thereís one that could have checked Mike out. Home Depot is about the only place I donít mind self check out, never with lumber though. The one near me just got new machines that donít have a shelf to put stuff on after you scan it, doesnít really work. They should have just raised the price of those Homer buckets.

So if I read this right, there are people that will spend time in the store, get to the checkout line, realize there's no checkers, leave, DRIVE TO ANOTHER STORE, find everything they were going to purchase then attempt to check out again?
If you're pleased with yourself for wasting that much time you really need need a hobby.

Speaking of Walmart, riddle me this... I can call or online place a order and they'll have an employee scan, pick and pack it and deliver it to my vehicle in the parking lot. Yet Should I choose to go in and pick what I want off the shelves they can't even provide an employee at checkout to scan my purchase out? To me there is something wrong with this philosophy.

I used to think that way as well when they first installed the self checks. But about the third time I was there in the self-righteous line with the cashier, I saw the self checkout only half used (2 out of 4 being used). I figured out right there and then I could stand there waiting, with three people in front of me for, a cashier to ring me up or I could slide over to the self check and be gone in a couple of minutes. Needless to say, I know how to use the self check. I don't care about the cost or cost savings, I just want out.

Maybe, maybe not. I've got two homes, with an Ace near each. One Ace is great, lots of people that have been there forever and know what's in the store and where it actually is. The other, well, lets just say the employees were probably selling shirts at Macy's or popcorn at the movie theater last week.

My friend's car was stolen out of my shop parking lot while my friend and I were less than 100 feet away, just inside a wide open garage door. We didn't hear a thing. I just happened to look out the door as the scumbag was driving down the street. I don't think the store condones car break-ins as a general rule. I think it's a bit over the top to blame the store for that.

Not having the personnel to man the store correctly could be the store's fault or it could be a corporate issue or it could just be that they were overwhelmed at that particular time. I agree that some of these bean counter types can screw up a business but there are some that can make it better as well.

Typical consumer mentality. They want an experienced master plumber, carpenter, electrician, etc. stationed in each department and super models at the each register with no lines but will shop elsewhere to save 5%.

OReely, not sure you understand, they took out all the usual checkout stands - they are not there anymore.

As far as the parking lot situation goes, if you allow people to congregate in the lot, undocumented people looking for cash work, don't be surprised if a couple of them help themselves to whats left unattended if they don't get any work that day. Hell, I hate going there with my laptop bag in my truck, knowing what hassles I'll go thru if it is stolen while I'm inside buying whatever it is I came for. But all the same, it's a PITA to have to stop by the shop or the house to drop it off before I go too.

I shop Home Depots from North Palm Beach to Miami and have never seen one yet without both cashiers and kiosks.

Not me David, as I said above, theres more to consider than cost alone. About then years ago, when Nardelli was running HD, I rarely went, because most of their stuff was cheap Chinese crap. Yes it was cheaper, but not able to perform the functions as intended, nor fit right etc.

The one they used for her genny was about 40 miles away. I'll NEVER use a Lowes or HD "approved" contractor.
im the technician at a dealer that gets to go fix those installs. I can guarantee you there are a lot more problems than just the neutral issue she already found out about.
