One thing I did notice is that it does make the bowl opening quite a bit smaller which would make it even harder to hit the opening. Is there a reason it can't be the same size/width as the bowl rim?
The top fin surface is just about the same profile as the seat you sit on. It overhangs inward as much as possible without going in so far as to be seen when the seat is down. The purpose of this is to "block" any pee that is trying to splash back out of the toilet. Even when you hit dead center with perfect aim there is a barrage of pee that splashes back out of the toilet. This overhang catches most of that. Whatever is not caught by the overhang generally has a trajectory that is too vertical for it to get past the outer part of Tinkle Topper and it is collected.

If you only knew how many beers, videos, food coloring, paper on the floor, splash mitigation profiles etc it too to figure this all out you'd be amazed. When any guy go's pee ever, there is piss and water that splashes back out. It is just the way it is, most of us don't care about it. I really didn't care about it. But now that it has gone away I am ultra aware of it. One of my friends that has one out in AZ promised me that he never gets pee on the floor. never feels pee. Told me it was the dumbest thing ever. Once he became aware of it he started feeling it and it grossed him out. I had to send him a TT that week lol.

I love this banter guys, I really do. This is an off the wall product that solves a problem none of us really knew we had. I get it. I knew you guys would come up with every reason under the sun of why it sucks or won't sell. I just want to make sure it is all things I was aware of and have already thought through. This product will sell by demonstration. If I were to knock on your door and tell you that you needed this you'd think I was crazy. But if you go to your buddies house, take a piss, notice it did not have any ill affect on your pissing, you would ask your buddy "what the hell is that thing on your toilet". He'd say, "It's a Tinkle Topper, keeps piss off your ankles and feet when you're peeing". You'd might consider buying one then, once you see it and know what it does.

We discover all kinds of neat side benefits too from people using them. One couple that has one in their house has cats. The cats love to lay in their bed. Every time the wife cleans the toilet she finds cat hair stuck to the sides of it. What she didn't realize is the cat hair was stuck to the film of pee covering the toilet. Every time her husband gets a drop on the rim, it eventually trickles down the side of the toilet. You may see this pooling up at your floor bolt area on your toilet at home too. So what she didn't know wasn't hurting her. But now that they have a TT there is no longer any urine film on the side of the toilet. The cats still rub up on the toilet to scratch their backs but their hair no longer sticks. Now that she realizes that she is retroactively grossed out lol and thankful for the TT.

Most guys have commented on the added height being nice. A better sitting position.

Keep it coming. Thanks!

I have had a couple of ideas for inventions that would have to be manufactured offshore (China?) and never pursued, simply because of the potential for idea theft, not so much from a patent, but from a working model.

If your product is successful, what will keep your manufacturer (or their competitor) from just making your design, conceivably for less money than you contracted with, and underselling you?

I have been afraid that the prototype development, marketing, etc. would just be taken advantage of by someone else, as soon as modest success occurs. Or worse, the (knock-off) product may appear at retailers before my production runs were worked out.

Good luck, and protect yourself the best way you can.

I would buy a couple, two of my bathrooms have the toilet next to a radiator, no one is peeing on the rim of the toilet but the splashback gets on the radiator and causes rust over time. Looks like a good idea.

Instead - How about an adjustable nozzle that attaches to the end of your Johnson? It would taper the stream and make it more accurate.

Actually - this is the 21st century - what you need is an "Ap". A small microchip is implanted in the head of the member, and then you point your phone while you pee. The phone guides your aim.

OR - how about air jets under the rim that direct the spray towards the center and down? Or, maybe an electrostatic charge on the rim that repels droplets towards the center?

I came up with a prototype using air like you describe. But it is not a product for every toilet. Too complicated.

My wife constantly accuses me of pissing on the floor. If you want me to test it out for you I will. If she quits her bitchin’ you know you have a winner.

Just pee in the shower. I don't mean when you're using it, that's gross.

What about different shaped bowls? I have 3 different shapes in my house.

It can take a steady blast with minimal splatter indefinitely. I think once we have production units with smoother surfaces it may be zero splatter. All liquid goes right into the bowl.

There are two main shapes that make up the bulk of the market, Elongated and Round. There are a handful of custom toilets on the market, they would need to license this to get it incorporated into their custom seat.

Seems like an automatically raising seat would be as effective. Good luck. I would not buy one. It would smell (scented or not) and be full of pubes, unless it was cleaned periodically. Who would rather clean this than a smooth rim? Good luck again.

I have three of those step stools. They are called squatty potty, and they are absolutely awesome. I've used it for about five years or so now. I highly recommend it. As for this product in this thread, I'm intrigued. May pick up a few myself.
