Default Yost Van Dyke

Has anyone been to Yost Van Dyke recently? Where did you stay? Was staying on this island more enjoyable than staying on another island like St John and taking a day trip?

Jost Van Dyke is not quite back to normal after the storms last year.
Sandcastle Hotel is still closed Sandcastle Hotel at Soggy Dollar
Although the island has made alot of progress in rebuilding it is still has a ways to go. https://jostvandyke.com/status-update-june-2018/
I was on Jost yesterday and although my three favorite bars are up and running. (Soggy Dollar, Corsairs and Foxy's) I would have hard time spending a week there.
You would be much better off on Tortola, St John or if you want a new island experience consider Culebra.
The best way to visit and truly enjoy the BVI's is on a charter boat, either bare boat or captained.
Good luck and book lodging soon, the islands as a result of reduced capacity are almost completely booked.

The most important parts of St John are all back. The beaches, the hiking trails, most of the rental villas and a good percentage of the restaurants and bars.
Cruz bay is as special as ever, as result of the rebuilding it is really fresh looking and quite enjoyable.
Whats not back, is Caneel Bay Resort,The Westin (reopens this month) Four of the top end restaurants including ZOZO's and Asolare.
With all that said, we just had one of the busiest Christmas seasons and the majority of the villas are fully booked for the winter.
We have two types of visitors, the returning family that still finds all the things that they really loved about the St John, but can see the remaining signs of the massive devastation to their favorite island and then there is the new first time visitor that thinks the island is amazing and has no idea about the losses and changes post storm.
The recovery efforts by all were amazing and contrary to popular belief, FEMA, The Federal Government including the Navy, Coast Guard, Marines, Army and the Airforce were on point within hours and many groups are still here helping the island recovery programs. Best involvement by our government I have witnessed in my 30 years on the islands.

I've only been on STJ for seven months so don't know what was normal before storms but a lot has reopened since I've been here. Thought the Westin reopened Friday?

I know Long Bay in Tortola hasn't been rebuilt. I thought I heard someone bought it and plans to rebuild, but taking a while.
