I got the Quatix 5 for Christmas but swapped it for the Fenix 5 Plus. You can still get marine apps but have maps, music, more memory, payments, a lot more on the plus. I just got mine in last night, so I cannot really give a review; but, I am excited to play with and learn the watch this weekend. That said, the Apple Watch is very functional just not was sporty or rugged.

I have the Quatix 5 that I bought from a member here. It is nice to be able to mute calls/alerts and read messages. I have Garmin on the Viking, Regulator, and Parker. I got it to work but it was more of a novelty for me. I don’t ever fish single handedly so I have my fingertips at the helm with the actual screens and controls.

Most of my family have apple watches and iphones. They all love their apple watches.

So you're going to use it for 5 seconds over the novelty then realize its just that. Currently a novelty.
Before you drop coin on one of the more expensive smart watches, do you do any sports that mean you'll use it constantly? Or do you just want an annoying text message/call reminder?

If the latter just get an Apple watch.

Good info. The Garmin was on sale so a bit cheaper than Apple and I think Fenix. Tbh if it wasn’t on sale I’m not sure I’d get either just yet. Wife loves her Apple. I like the idea of not being tethered to the phone.

Not sure how much of a ‘nav tool’ the quatix would be. I dont fish and don’t have auto pilot. Most of our cruising is pretty local. I like dive type watches so I like the looks of the quatix, seems to be a bit more rugged. And battery life seems much better. I do swim laps (used to be a competitive swimmer) but not sure I’d actually wear any watch when I do that anyway, just never have.

The integration with electronics? Yep. I have the same with my phone with Simrad and never use it despite always having my phone on me.

I run and swim laps (also spearfish hense the massive model jump) and could not be happier than I am with my Descent Mk1.

If you have an iPhone, the Apple Watch integrates extremely well with it. It’s a great fitness tracker plus it has a lot of the functionality of the iPhone.

If you love your iPhone, chances are you’ll like the Apple Watch and regret buying something different.
