She must not have backed off the throttle gong down a wave. If she had done that the wave would have gone right under her.

Thank the good lord above for her rescue.
I'll bet the next time she tries to circumvent the globe she looks into Pontoon boats for the journey!

Did some Googling of her to see what she looks like now...turned out pretty good as she matured. I wouldn't have minded taking care of her horny urges on a boat on a long round the world trip...I'd keep the bilge wet all day long!

I remember this. I followed her Journey. At the time there was alot of flak given to the parents for letting and supporting her trying.

She left just after Jessica Watson returned.
Everyone was hopeful, but the unfortunate fact is that she was trying to make the voyage in a racing boat and at the wrong time of the year.
I had followed Jessica's last few months of her voyage and lived vicariously through her journey.

Reminds me of the Regulator that floated from Nantucket to Spain on its own.
Regulator lost at sea 4 years found off coast of Spain

Believe me, after a couple thousand miles of hitting that you would be ready to swim to shore.

I don't follow these type of things. I thought it was extremely impressive that she sailed for 5 months on the open ocean before 30 ft waves took her boat, and also impressive that her boat floated for almost 9 years before being found.

Looks to have lost the keel in the process. Interesting that it never sunk. Says something about sailboats, even ones not primarily designed for safety.
