Video quailty is excellent, I have a 32GB card installed. I like this one better than the Garmin Lol

Since it basically sits behind the rearview mirror I don't see it while driving

I've got to ask, why are you driving? Drones to large to fly with?

I am in the process of putting a new Camper Summit Truck Topper | AT Overland on my Tundra and need to sell the existing ARE topper that is currently installed. The new camper top is in Prescott, AZ. Kind of like killing 2 birds with one stone. I will have all of my drones with me for this 2 month power line project.

All heavy transportation will be required by insurance to have them, light duty is on an as needed basis depending on losses. GPS saved one client after the crash was downloaded and proved they were not at fault. Have another that would have saved them $15k if cameras wouldíve been on the dash but they are contrarians and refuse to excersize good judgement.

Idk. Seems like any time I notice someone with a camera itís some left lane ranger intentionally trying to provoke something by being righteous. Some old dude white knuckled in an old Prius or minivan.

Now for that comment Iíll find myself in a situation where one would have saved my ass....

I recently began to wonder why the auto manufacturers don't make the car turn signal come on when changing lanes as it seems in this part of the country (NJ, NY, PA, CT etc.), blinkers are optional...

The car wouldn't know when you want to change lanes and/or turn. By the time the signal would be active, it'd be too late anyway. The bigger mystery is why haven't car manufacturers programmed the headlights to come on when the wipers do. Or The headlights and taillights on together. I've been seeing a lot of cars where the headlights are on but not taillights.

Before cameras
So I’m towing my boat down Jefferson hwy with my 6yrs old in passenger seat talking about the day they had and a LTL driver does a California stop and takes up all three lanes entering. I lock up my brakes to miss hitting him. I get on his side and take down his truck number to report him later. He sees me doing this and blocks the road gets out of his truck and goes full road rage in front of my child. My only concern was NOT traumatizing the little one. A camera system would have been much more convincing than word of mouth.

The police would need a warrant for that, my guess it will never happen.

I am guessing an insurance company would not need a warrant. If your car is totalled, I would try and swipe the camera from your vehicle in the tow truck company's lot before the responsible party's inurance adjuster does. I have always been much more concerned about what private companies are doing with our data than any government entity.

Edit: Here's a post from a member of another forum I belong to regarding the EDR ("black box") in his vehicle after he was in am accident:

Mr Smith&Wesson wouldíve been unholstered very quickly to convince the dick it was time to move on. That wasnít his first time to act ugly.

it's my observation that the big truck drivers are by far the most professional on the road today, personal cars are the worst. I drive about 3k miles a month.

I have one but a different brand it works great. Its made to stay on the windshield at all times. Its goes off by itself when the power goes off in the car. It has a feature while parked if it detects any movement of your car it will record 30 sec clips. Then shuts off. So the battery doesn't last long and it wont blow up from the heat.

around here in LA where everybody sues everybody and half the people don't have insurance , its a must.

My last 3 vehicles have that feature. Once I turn on my wipers within about 30 seconds the lights ( headlights and taillights) are on until I turn the wipers off.

Tesla just released a s/w update that allows you to store front video camera footage on a USB stick.

Last year, my hunting buddies and I were returning from dinner (in the dark) and happened upon a bunch of mid twenty looking kids in camo screwing around in the road.
Coincidentally, my uncle passed through a few minutes later and caught them on his dash cam.
The following day he heard of one of the kids getting hit and killed. He turned his video in the the police. Hopefully it saved a lawsuit from being filed for stupidity. I had intended to get one after the incident but never did. Thanks for the reviews, all.

I have a cheap Diesel Boss DB-5 camera...$100.

I bought mine after getting cut off in traffic numerous times while towing a boat. Very hard to stop quickly while towing. It records everything people do like...suddenly cutting you off in traffic. People on their phones all the time now instead of paying attention to their driving and weaving in and out of their lanes.

Will give a scenario that it could've saved me some trouble. Was sitting at a red light in my truck with a large SUV on my right. For some reason a young woman decided to run across the road just before the light changed. I could not see her because of the SUV on my right, suddenly she popped into view and I almost hit her but thankfully diesel trucks don't accelerate that fast. If I had hit her it would've have been my word against hers and pedestrians almost always get the benefit.

The new thing I've noticed people doing is to pull out in front of you in what seems to be an intentional manner with an unsafe distance and you either have to hit the brakes hard or change lanes to avoid a collision . It's almost like a game with people now. I don't know if they just don't want to wait a minute or if they are trying to get you to hit them.

For the money it's cheap insurance in an accident. I really need one for the rear view as well as people seem to like to tailgate now if you are not going fast enough for them. Society drives like they think and act...me..me..me first all the time. Sad really.
