I would like to do that so much that I would pay to be on that boat! I would love the experience.

It must be nice to have that kind of interval.

When younger I'd be all over that, now, I'm still tempted.

Spent 22 days at Cape D and would pay to go back.

Here are some pics I took with a 110 camera. The rest of the time I was either at the helm or just holding on.

Here is another couple that I didn't take but it's an indication of what they put us thru. They even made us run that chit at night. It was almost a religious experience.

Been there, done that. Sandwich and Chatham in 44's in the 80's and early 90's

Youthful exuberance plus a self righting 44' motor lifeboat make for some interesting times. Radar, Loran, stopwatch, and a compass. No chart plotters, and it was near impossible to go below in seas to do chartwork.

Impossible to sink. People have gotten killed on them, but none ever sank.

44363. RIP.

REMEMBERING A SEA RESCUE GONE AWRY

We used Loran and charts running the Colombia River Bar at night during school and then again running a 44 MLB off the East coast. The Loran was about as big as an apartment sized refrigerator and the "repeater" at the helm was larger than modern GPS. Plus, as you said, we actually had to use paper charts to plot location, and figure set and drift all the while fighting the waves to get where we were going. I still wouldn't take anything for the experience.
