Default Worse Injury You Have Ever Sustained?

By know we've all read about folks most painful Medical Procedure they have endured.

Didn't want to side track that thread so post up what's the Worse injury you have ever sustained.

Many, many years ago, was in a bar minding my own business enjoying the evening.

After my ordering my 3rd drink of the evening some SCUMBAG comes over with a Highball drink glass and sucker slams this glass into face from behind me.

The HB drinking glass busts on the rim as it hits my face and proceeds to crumble as it continues down my mug ripping my face wide open from the top of an eye, cutting the eye in half and fileting the rest of my face WIDE open.

After addressing this POS' issue, (yes, I beat the living hell out of that POS and the bouncers grabbed me. ) off to the hospital I went not realizing how badly injured I was and a good thing to as I literally passed out due to blood lose as I walked through ER doors.

Initial surgery, 2 more surgeries (plastic surgery) & complete lose of an eye.

Dr. wanted to cut the eye out.
My house mates girl friend showed up before the surgery and Dr. asks for permission to remove the eye since she has a limited POA on me and I'm unconscious in a state of Coma.
She refused to allow the removal and told the Dr. if he removes that eye without "MY" consent he better never come to see me afterwards........................... Surgeon left the dead eye in.
Surgeon later told me that no more damage could have been done if I was shot in the face with a shotgun.
Assuming he meant with bird shot, 00 buck would have taken my head off.

To this day I don't have a clue why this POS sucker punched me with that glass from behind as I had never seen this person before in my entire life nor had I ever spoken to him.

9 months later I contacted the DA's office wanting to know why this POS wasn't in jail?
Behind closed doors I was informed he was a informant for the DEA and the DA's office was ordered to Not prosecute.

WTF????????????????
This clown gets away Scott free after damn near killing and mutilating my face???

It's a GOOD thing I never seen that POS again or I'd be posting this from a prison cell.

Also found out this POS had done a few other really messed up things, 1 of which was to a sheriff deputy (felony- agg. battery with a firearm) and walked Scott free on that as well.
POS and his girlfriend were at a different bar 6 months prior to my incident.
They get into a cat/dog fight, are thrown into the parking lot.
Still going at it when deputies show up.
One deputy grabs her, the other deputy grabs him.
He tries to disarm the deputy of his sidearm.
During the struggle the gun goes off and the deputy gets shot through the foot.

POS goes to jail but is back on the streets within 48 hr.'s.
He goes to court and all charges are nolo prosecuted.
Again, this was due to orders from High Command at the federal level of the DEA.

In all honesty, this type of individual belongs in the dirt permanently which he more than like ended up sooner than later considering the type of people he was setting up for the DEA.

To this day I have never stepped back into another bar since then.

So what's the worse injury you have ever sustained in your life?

Ruptured my patella tendon, torn clear off my kneecap. Slipped on the basement stairs and didn't catch myself on the hand rail. Landed with my full weight on my left knee cap on stone tile at base of stairs. Wife was out at a yoga class, I was home with a five and 3 year old. Five year old was able to get me the phone to call 911 before I passed out. Long recovery.

That is a crazy story you have...

Personally, in order of severity:

1) Tibia / Fibia fracture
2) Bi-lateral ACL and Menicus tears
3) Broken collar bone x 2
4) Broken rib
5) Broken toe
6) Multiple lacerations of various types and intensities

Injuries suck

I have had multiple injuries and broken bones but nothing compares to getting a glass busted in my face and losing an eye.
You win.

Lost about 1/2 inch of bone off my right hand middle finger. Got caught between a line and a bit. Nothing but bone left sticking out the end of my finger so the surgeon cut it off with what appeared to be a set of fancy tin snips.

I sprained my wrist once lol. Knock on wood I've been pretty injury free. Stiches maybe twice but nothing serious at all.

My grandad told me when he was about 8 he was in the yard and they had a well. Next to the well was a metal pole that was about 3 ft out of the ground. Over the years the top of it rusted and became sharp. One day he decided to jump over the pole. It caught him in the groin area and nearly ripped his leg clean off. The only thing that saved his life as the neighbor saw him and held his leg together to keep him from bleeding out. He showed me the scar

Most traumatic, severe concussion. When I was 12 I was playing touch football on the asphalt at recess. At the end of the play this douchebag pushes me to the ground and starts kicking me. He is the biggest kid in the class. My friend who was also big runs over to help me and blows up the bully. Bully falls with his fat ass on my head smashing it into the concrete. I was out 3 minutes. Mom comes to get me and I don't know who she is. I try to get out of her car on the highway because I think I am being kidnapped. She gets me to my pediatrician. He immediately realizes it is a bad concussion and calls an ambulance. For 24-48 hours I didn't know who I was, where I was, what year it was, etc... Depending on who you ask, no permanent damage other than a strange thing where I can't eat soup well (as a result of the injury I can't balance liquid on a spoon since I was a child). I get minor concussions easily ever since, and have had a total of 6 diagnosed and 3 or 4 undiagnosed since then.

Shot my right hand with a 12 ga. shotgun I was 16 y.o.Does that count? I may win the prize. Will be close with losing an eye.

mmmm….broken maybe 20 bones over the years...….but

1) 6 years ago fell off the hardtop of one of the boats(12 foot) and augured into the concrete with my left elbow and 225lbs behind it.
Shattered my elbow into 6 pieces, ulna punched out of the skin, pre-op the surgeon had to "manipulate" the main bone back into place
and I couldn't have any anesthesia for that, pain left kidney stones in the dust. Surgery was 9 hours +.

2) Contender trailer got stuck on the ball, instead of looking closer at the issue, I got up and jumped on the bumper. Trailer shot up
and slammed back down on my foot(800 plus lbs tongue weight. I was trapped for 15 minutes til my Son wandered out of the house
as I could reach the crank. I was wearing crocs. When we got to the ER my foot was the size of a football and had squeezed itself out thru the various
holes of the shoe. It took two techs to cut the shoe off. They call it a crushing injury and to this day its still sensitive. Took 6 months for it to heal closed.

I love boats though...….

I think just the part that "You" shot yourself wins the thread.

Good to hear it wasn't a permanent disfigurement.

Blowing out my lower back. Destroyed a facet joint, causing a root nerve to become impacted into the joint - followed by muscle spasms on that entire side of the back...

The nerve gets free after time, but then it happens again. Worst was 6 months of spasms with the nerve stuck in there.

The pain is like having a drill running into your back 24/7 that is held in place by a series of vice grips...

The pain is exquisite.

Hunting accident. Heard a lot of hair on the palm of your hand jokes. That is belly skin. As I got older and a lot fatter so did that skin graft. It stayed sowed to my belly for 6 weeks. left a nice scar on my belly. I pulled the tendons on the way to the hospital, and made my fingers wiggle. I'm still the best one handed IT Project in America.

Well, losing an eye/face, and losing a hand...I can't get near those.

One time while carrying a bunch of drinks to a garage where the band was playing....I fell down the stairs (yes..lots of booze already)...slid down the stairs on my side and broke my 3 lower right ribs. That was over 20 years ago...I still often feel it today. Ribs never heal right!

Last spring I did a 3/4 near amputation of my thumb...drove my chefs knife through it while rapidly cutting up crispy pork skin from a great pork roast I made (penile!). Yup...had a bit of wine already and as usual was chopping a million miles an hour.

Back in my early 20's...some of you here may be familiar with the landmark I'll mention next. It's at the tip of Sandy Point, off of Stonington Connecticut..inside of Watch Hill RI. An old blocky pyramid structure called "The Folly". Popular spot for people to jump off. One day we were drunk 'n..other stuff..and I lost track of the time (and tide). I jumped in...assuming tide still up. Tide had gone out. Packed sand on the sandbar there. My state of mine..I did a pindrop. So knees weren't bend to absorb the shock. My lower back hasn't been right since...have had bad discs from L2 down to S1. So..not a visually bad injury..especially back then. But 30 years later... my back is in rough shape, already had an operation on it..and a fusion is next.
