Bullet entered my right shoulder just above the head of my humerus, went through my acromion lengthwise. Bounced off my spine leaving 3 fractures and lodged in my left scapula where it lies today.
Doctor in the ER said I'd never use my right arm again, I said find me another doctor, that doesn't work for me. 3 bone grafts and some titanium later, I have 90% or so range of motion and nearly full strength. Titanium plate hurts like hell when it gets cold since its just under the skin..
The guy who did it gets out of prison 2 weeks from tomorrow, I expect it will be a stressful time for awhile, certainly for my wife anyway. Anyway, as another poster said, life goes on!
Were you the specific target or was he just waiting for the first person to show up and you were the unlucky one?

Glad you're still here.

Hard to say, will probably never know for sure. Understanding what goes on in the mind of other people is beyond my pay grade. I feel blessed for sure to have made it out the other end no worse off than I am, could have been a lot worse.

Dislocated my right hip in a motorcycle accident. Ripped off half of my right hip socket. My right leg was on my left side. My right foot was on the outside of my left foot, facing the wrong way, toes to heels. Never lost consciousness unfortunately until they put me out for surgery. That was 49 years ago. I was 17, 2 weeks after high school graduation. Spent months in the hospital and rehab. A 16 year old unlicensed young girl was driving the other car. We were married 4 1/2 years later.

I've broken just about everything including my back, been life-flighted 3 times.....

By far the most painful injury was a shattered femur. I'm pretty good with words but can't express to anyone who hasn't experienced it just how bad it is.

Got run over by a car when I was in sixth grade running through traffic on my way to hockey practice. Broken hip, ankle, six ribs collapsed (punctured)lung, ruptured spleen and a severe concussion. Thank god for the concussion cause I don’t remember the pain EMT told my mother I was laughing hysterically the whole time. But me good now.

That is a tough way to meet a spouse. I would take church socials or even clubs over ER and long hospital stays and rehab, but you know how to make a "solid" and memorable first impression. You will always have, "Yeah, our first date she tried to kill me."

Didn't want to side track that thread so post up what's the Worse injury you have ever sustained.

Many, many years ago, was in a bar minding my own business enjoying the evening.

After my ordering my 3rd drink of the evening some SCUMBAG comes over with a Highball drink glass and sucker slams this glass into face from behind me.

The HB drinking glass busts on the rim as it hits my face and proceeds to crumble as it continues down my mug ripping my face wide open from the top of an eye, cutting the eye in half and fileting the rest of my face WIDE open.

After addressing this POS' issue, (yes, I beat the living hell out of that POS and the bouncers grabbed me. ) off to the hospital I went not realizing how badly injured I was and a good thing to as I literally passed out due to blood lose as I walked through ER doors.

Initial surgery, 2 more surgeries (plastic surgery) & complete lose of an eye.

Dr. wanted to cut the eye out.
My house mates girl friend showed up before the surgery and Dr. asks for permission to remove the eye since she has a limited POA on me and I'm unconscious in a state of Coma.
She refused to allow the removal and told the Dr. if he removes that eye without "MY" consent he better never come to see me afterwards........................... Surgeon left the dead eye in.
Surgeon later told me that no more damage could have been done if I was shot in the face with a shotgun.
Assuming he meant with bird shot, 00 buck would have taken my head off.

To this day I don't have a clue why this POS sucker punched me with that glass from behind as I had never seen this person before in my entire life nor had I ever spoken to him.

9 months later I contacted the DA's office wanting to know why this POS wasn't in jail?
Behind closed doors I was informed he was a informant for the DEA and the DA's office was ordered to Not prosecute.

WTF????????????????
This clown gets away Scott free after damn near killing and mutilating my face???

It's a GOOD thing I never seen that POS again or I'd be posting this from a prison cell.

Also found out this POS had done a few other really messed up things, 1 of which was to a sheriff deputy (felony- agg. battery with a firearm) and walked Scott free on that as well.
POS and his girlfriend were at a different bar 6 months prior to my incident.
They get into a cat/dog fight, are thrown into the parking lot.
Still going at it when deputies show up.
One deputy grabs her, the other deputy grabs him.
He tries to disarm the deputy of his sidearm.
During the struggle the gun goes off and the deputy gets shot through the foot.

POS goes to jail but is back on the streets within 48 hr.'s.
He goes to court and all charges are nolo prosecuted.
Again, this was due to orders from High Command at the federal level of the DEA.

In all honesty, this type of individual belongs in the dirt permanently which he more than like ended up sooner than later considering the type of people he was setting up for the DEA.

To this day I have never stepped back into another bar since then.

So what's the worse injury you have ever sustained in your life?

Her name was close to Buella Breaker...

All of my big injuries have all came this year playing basketball. Partial torn acl and mcl in my right knee in Jan. Started back feeling good and started to lightly play, broke my index finger on my right hand. Once that started to heal up, ended up breaking my pinky on the same hand a month ago. The knee injury hurt a lot more than the broken fingers and I still have pain in the knee and dont have the full range of movement yet.

My oh my, this is a long list of postings.
I just fell off a ladder from cleaning gutters and broke both legs. One was a tibial plateau fracture and the other was just a couple of inches above my ankle. The foot was just hanging.

Spent 7 weeks with my put bull in bed with me the whole time. Dogs know when something's wrong.

Fell out of my boat in the driveway, landed flush on my side on concrete. Broke a couple of ribs, but worse part was collapsed lung which resulted in the chest tube that I posted about in the other thread and a week in the hospital. Also tore my right rotator cuff in the fall which resulted in my third shoulder surgery.

For those who've never had a collapsed lung, it's like having your breath knocked out, only worse and you can't get catch it. You're just gasping for air, thinking you're going to suffocate.

No alcohol was involved, but I wish it had been. Would've given me an excuse anyway and maybe numbed the pain some.

I had puncture lung, broken ribs and crushed elbow when I was a kid and got hit by a city bus. Have had broken bones, but by far the worst was I had an accident while I was roofing. I was burned with liquid tar. I dropped a bucket and my right arm and face was covered. It took over a week in the hospital just to desolve and remove the tar to be able to see the extent of the burns. It was a long and painful recovery.

My experience was a little different than yours by the sounds of it.

This past spring I had major surgery and one of the side effects was chronic hiccups 24/7. My first bout was 5 weeks straight. The hiccups was causing my left lung lob to collapse about 25 times a day. Each time my lung collapsed it would take me between 30 to 45 seconds to clear my air way to catch a breath. A few weeks later after the 5 wk bout I got another 3 week bout of chronic hiccups, but this time I was easily averaging 50 times a day my lung would collapse and some of those were taking me upwards of a minute to clear.
With your air way being closed off while awake is one thing, but being jarred from your sleep because you can't breath is a whole other level of brain drain.
I can still remember like it was yesterday trying to do a Linda Blair Exorcist head twist and clutching of my throat like I was trying to strangle someone and I'm surprised I never busted ribs for how hard I'd pound on my chest in an attempt to open things up.

i ran over my own foot with a hard tire forklift... ya i know that takes talent. popped most of my toes like grapes and turned them into mush. Dr wanted to remove the big toe, he feared it was so damaged that infection would get to the bone and give me worse problems. i rolled the dice to loose the toe or it if got worse part of the foot. i am lucky to have all ten toes even though a couple look funny lol. when it gets cold that foot hurts for some reason but its better than what it could of been.
