Herniated L4 and L5. No big at the time, but good Lord, the next several months were excruciating.

Nothing to compare to some of the mentioned accidents, but still enough to make you cringe, picture this, an electric wood plane, I am holding a piece of timber on its edge to plane it down, piece of timber tilts sideways and I planed half my thumb, including the thumb nail, along the thumb, right off, happened in a second....still think about that, one of my work mates had a drill with the trigger locked, fell off a ladder, landed on the drill bit with his shin bone, drilled a really neat hole before he could yank the drill out! had most of my toe nails ripped off by the spokes on a motor bike.

I fell out of a tree when I was 8 (1971), it was 21ft from the limb to the ground (rocky ground) I broke my back in 3 places. Luckily my friends father was doc and knew better not to move me. I got to spend the next 16 weeks in a body cast. To be honest I don't remember what the pain was like, now that itching from the cast......it still gives me the creeps

Didn't want to side track that thread so post up what's the worse injury you have ever sustained.

Many, many years ago, was in a bar minding my own business enjoying the evening.

After my ordering my 3rd drink of the evening some scumbag comes over with a highball drink glass and sucker slams this glass into face from behind me.

The hb drinking glass busts on the rim as it hits my face and proceeds to crumble as it continues down my mug ripping my face wide open from the top of an eye, cutting the eye in half and fileting the rest of my face wide open.

After addressing this pos' issue, (yes, i beat the living hell out of that pos and the bouncers grabbed me. ) off to the hospital i went not realizing how badly injured i was and a good thing to as i literally passed out due to blood lose as i walked through er doors.

Initial surgery, 2 more surgeries (plastic surgery) & complete lose of an eye.

Dr. Wanted to cut the eye out.
My house mates girl friend showed up before the surgery and dr. Asks for permission to remove the eye since she has a limited poa on me and i'm unconscious in a state of coma.
She refused to allow the removal and told the dr. If he removes that eye without "my" consent he better never come to see me afterwards........................... Surgeon left the dead eye in.
Surgeon later told me that no more damage could have been done if i was shot in the face with a shotgun.
Assuming he meant with bird shot, 00 buck would have taken my head off.

To this day i don't have a clue why this pos sucker punched me with that glass from behind as i had never seen this person before in my entire life nor had i ever spoken to him.

9 months later i contacted the da's office wanting to know why this pos wasn't in jail?
Behind closed doors i was informed he was a informant for the dea and the da's office was ordered to not prosecute.

wtf????????????????
This clown gets away scott free after damn near killing and mutilating my face???

it's a good thing i never seen that pos again or i'd be posting this from a prison cell.

Also found out this pos had done a few other really messed up things, 1 of which was to a sheriff deputy (felony- agg. Battery with a firearm) and walked scott free on that as well.
pos and his girlfriend were at a different bar 6 months prior to my incident.
They get into a cat/dog fight, are thrown into the parking lot.
Still going at it when deputies show up.
One deputy grabs her, the other deputy grabs him.
He tries to disarm the deputy of his sidearm.
During the struggle the gun goes off and the deputy gets shot through the foot.

Pos goes to jail but is back on the streets within 48 hr.'s.
He goes to court and all charges are nolo prosecuted.
Again, this was due to orders from high command at the federal level of the dea.

In all honesty, this type of individual belongs in the dirt permanently which he more than like ended up sooner than later considering the type of people he was setting up for the dea.

To this day i have never stepped back into another bar since then.

So what's the worse injury you have ever sustained in your life?
you win!

Tried to hop down from a pier to the gunnel of my Jones Brother Skiff, about a four foot drop. When my feet hit the gunnel, they slipped out from under me and I landed on my left side. Knocked the wind out of me, broke two ribs and had a class 4 rupture of my left kidney. I was peeing red when I got home.

Believe it or not, it was a blessing in that they found kidney cancer in that kidney, had the kidney removed 8 months later. Cancer was fully contained in the kidney, so I am, so far, cancer free after 2 years from removal. FYI, there is no cure for kidney cancer and it does not usually show up until its to late (stage 4). This accident was a godsend, although painful.

I'll tell you all why I started these threads.

One, so people won't be so quick to judge other people, we're all a bunch of beat up fools to some extent and have lacked good judgment at one time or another in our lives.
And,
Two, because I see people coming on here and other sites whining about poor me, blah, blah, blah., Anybody willing to help out a disabled person with sending cash.

Stop feeling sorry for yourself and make a change in your life if you don't like it.
There's other's in this world far worse off and don't look for handouts.

As beat to hell and back as I am (and I haven't disclosed all of my injuries/ailments, not going to either) I've NEVER asked another living soul for a hand out.

Food for thought for the guilty.

Keep the stories rolling in.

Snapping an Achilles Tendon in half in February caught my attention quick. Blew both knees, one at a time. Put an oyster knife through my pinky, through the ring finger and into the bone of my middle finger. Multiple 3 1/2" ring shanks into/through fingers and hand with a nail gun. Lost a chunk of my cornea to my wife's finger nail, that was one of the worst days of my life. Once I got some Proparacaine I was much happier.

At 20 years old, racing motorcycles, I crashed and broke my right femur in 3 places, right wrist, 4 metatarsals in right foot, and had stress fractures all around my right knee. Used injuries to lure the clothes off women. One of which is now wife. And that my friends is the worst injury to a man!

So what's the worse injury you have ever sustained in your life?
Worse than the one you describe? No.

The worst one for me personally was breaking my neck in two places and dislocating it in a third, coupled with a major concussion.

But I think you'll win this "Queen for a Day" contest. Got my vote.

I was sitting between my twin inboards and my dad came to meet me. The engines were running but on these old 307Q the water pump did not turn till you kicked it. My idea was just pull the belt up to put tension on it. next thing I knew my hand went through the pulley and four fingers were in the palm of my hand. Wow did it hurt. ended up in NYU medical in NY and a great hand surgeon came in and reattached them all. We didn't go for a boat ride that day.

My dad went and bought a new water pump and installed it. Said enough of that nonsense.

I've been hard on my body no doubt about that one. From snapped tendons (arm wrestling), crushed left forearm (from slipping on ice while carrying a 150 lb section of tree trunk) to 7 broken (that took 3 years to stop clunking) and having my truck roll down off of the ramps and crushing me into a 3/4" crushed gravel driveway with no one around to help me (for the remainder of the day I picked stones out of my shoulder), stabbed myself in the thigh (that friggin hurt - lol - what an idiot), but I would say my biggie is when I was butchering and the tip of my knife found bone where there wasn't supposed to be bone. With the rate of speed I was working at the impact with the bone cause the knife to stop dead in its tracks but my hand continued on down the handle and the blade. I cut all four fingers to the bone severing the tendons and nerves. Picture an over boil hot dog wiener but with bone looking back at yah, well that's what my four fingers looked like.

I rode or raced dirt bikes for 40 years as did my brother. Moto X and woods racing. Only one trip to the hospital, my brother zero, our friends and endless amount of injuries. LOL. Doc told me the one time I was injured you have extremely large bones and joints.Anyone else would be broke to pieces Thank God!

Iíd have to say herniating the discs in my lower back and the resulting sciatic pain. It was so severe it put me in bed for two months. I could stand up for a minute or two and could sit up for not even a full five seconds before the pain became unbearable.

I dislocated my shoulder several years prior in an ATV accident and that was nothing compared to the back issues.

Default Injury

I bumped a dead pine tree while mowing at the deer lease October 3rd this year and an 8ft section broke off falling right on my shoulder. Broke my clavicle, 7 ribs and punctured my lung. Wasn’t a fun two months afterwards and still have rib pain.

Wasnít a matter of the DAís office not wanting to prosecute.
They wanted this guy BAD but when orders are given from the federal level you do as your told or pack your bags.

Canít sue what you canít find.
Apparently DEA placed POS into protective custody about a year after the bar incident never to be found again.

Bar denied either of us ever being there.
This was a small out of the way bar.
