I appreciate a heads-up. I engaged with a frustrating vendor this summer after not performing due-diligence. People had posted plenty of warnings that I didn't bother to read. The difference there was my guy's habit was silence. I would've been very happy to have him blow my phone up trying to make it right, or even just discuss it!

I appreciate the heads up as well.
It amazes me that when someone negatively reports an experience then people feel the need to post thier positive experience. I mean..that's great that you had a positive experience but that doesn't do anything for me when deciding who to purchase from. Your experience is inconsequential to the current experience being discussed because any vendor is only as good as his last transaction. Why? Because many things happen that can cause a vendor to go south. The only response that's means anything to me is from the vendor explaining his side of the story....then I can decide who's story to believe.

My opinion is that Mods should just delete stuff like this. If you have a gripe that is worthy of reading put in a detailed e-mail and of coarse have the name in the post this is just too sketchy for me to take serious and it's going to be a huge crap throwing contest thread.

Hard to believe a guy named "Semper Fishing" is going to back out of a Veterans Day sale.

I second this find it very hard to believe Gil would advertise falsely. He is a wealth of knowledge on this board and has always helped out THT community. Maybe their might of been an error who knows but if Gil could make it right he will. Pick up the damn phone he is not that type of salesman can't please everyone. I would defiantly call and use Gil no problem.

Someone posted erroneous sale price and you complain?

Grow up.

Prices change constantly. Guess you never buy anything. Apples 2.99/lb today are 1.77/lb tomorrow. Airline ticket last week was $125 and today its $600.

I got an email a week or so ago about a sale on rod building components. I went to the website and the sale prices weren't active. I emailed the seller and he responded they were fixed. I checked again and some were, but not the items I wanted. I went about my day and did not give it another thought. It never occurred to me to complain about the seller on a public forum.

What you stated is not really true. If a vendor has 1,000 positive transactions that should be noted against one or two bad transactions. So if your looking to buy something and if the vendor has one bad review the day prior you toss out all the positive reviews prior to the one negative?

Why would someone BS you when your looking to buy something. Your post does not add up.

Because many vendors, such as SemperFiFishing, have built up a lot of good will on this forum, and many of us don't like to see a "good' vendor smeared. Many more people post negative experiences than positive ones. And this one sounds a bit strange the way it was originally posted in that, firstly, the OP forgot the most important detail....the vendor's name. Second, "lots of BS" is hardly a detailed explanation of what happened. Third, it sounds like the OP got pissed off (rightly or wrongly) and hung up the phone, and then refused to take Gil's calls. So we don't know if Gil wanted to offer a compromise or a solution.

I agree in principle that a vendor is only as good as his last transaction, but we really don't know the whole story, and most vendors will wisely not get into a public discussion or debate with a pissed off customer. Transactions are usually between two parties, not one party and the entire internet.

Some vendors choose to respond, but most don't, especially on this forum......I doubt that I would.

no the Mod should not delete this. Op makes an unfounded claim and now I know from 50 members a great place to buy from. I think it's just good advertising.

I’ve bought numerous items from Gil. Great prices and advice. He’ll be the first person I contact when I’m looking to buy again.

I'd buy from him again. I bought my simrad package from him. I forgot exactly what happened but I had my PayPal account froze for what they thought was a fraudulent transaction. He went out of his way to get it straightened out and had my order to me on time.

Hmmm. I've only bought a pair of transducers from him but the price was good, communication excellent, and shipping was fast. It was a fine experience all around. He also seems to really know his stuff when discussing electronics.
