Default Mattress....admiral wants a new one

I know there was a thread here a while back about this subject but I can't seem to find it.

I think she is wanting a memory foam. The problem with that is I like very firm and she well not so much in a mattress.

Any suggestions? What say the THT brain trust

What ever you do, let her pick it out. If you chose it, you are going to here about it for the next um-teen years

Got a sleep number delivered yesterday. First good nights sleep I've had in ages. Went with the most basic model (C-2 I think). She want's a soft bed, I could sleep on a sheet of plywood, and need good hip support. Their higher level beds have memory foam tops. Can also put a memory foam topper for the same effect. I personally don't like the way memory foam conforms to you, reminds me of my 2 year old clinging to my leg.

This was another reason we didn't even consider them.

Most memory foam mattresses will be fairly firm initially and soften to your body, but not feel soft..

Sleep number, I have had 2 spinal fusions and sleep face down, I have to have a very firm mattress. My wife sleeps facing up, she likes a soft mattress, with the sleep number we both have different settings. I am sleeping better now than I have since 2001...

Sleep Number beds are in line price wise with normal mattress's.

2 yrs ago We purchased
2- twin ex long leggett and platt adjustable bases
2-twin ex long savvy rest mattresses with the toppers (talalay)
its a very comfortable mattress with quality material.
The savvy rest is a nice comfortable mattress. I couldn’t see dropping coin on another steel spring mattress or a mattress made out of petroleum oil.
before this purchase we purchased a sleep number bed and hated it to the point we asked for sleep number to take it back and refund our money which they did... we slept in guest bed room for a week waiting for them to pick it up.
the guest room has a new queen matress from sams club with talalay topper. That sleeps nice also.

May want to check Costco out too, we grabbed this one 3 years ago and it's been terrific. https://www.costco.com/Novaform-14"-Serafina-Pearl-Gel-Cal-King-Memory-Foam-Mattress.product.100153876.html

we also had a sleep number thinking the difference in firmness could be ideal. We also hated it. Ours was an older model and I hear the new ones are better. Still not willing to go back to it though.

Anyone have a slumber solutions? Thanks for the Zinus link that's the one I was looking for. It seems though that mattress isn't holding up over time

I too ordered a very expensive sleep number bed and did not like it. I returned it...it cost some $ to do that but I really did not like it. Big fan of Tempurpedic.

dont knock the split matress thing. It’s nice to have a whole night sleep instead of being kicked and elbowed throughout the night and movement is not transferred from one mattress to the other even though they are right next to one another. Add an adjustable vibrating base and you are in a resort every night.

Yes really my wife! Yes she hunts and fishes! Yes she cooks. The other perverted questions you all think are more than likely yes......did I mention she was fearless and MEAN....I know but her whatever she wants....keep in mind though the bloodhound and I also have to sleep on this thing. Well more so the bloodhound than I if it were up to her lol

yeah sleep number is great for back injury people or extremely heavy people but for the average hard working joe it didn’t fit the bill. Air matress with a cheap crate topper. You would think they would at least graduate to a 4” talalay topper in the firmness of your choosing.

the holding up ver time is why we went with savvy rest. Tired of picking matress s every 6 yrs
