Melted Tundra.
Wow. I couldn’t imagine how scary that would be. Great that Toyota USA is gonna step up in a great gesture. https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.the...e4fedddf1.jpeg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.the...82c0f63b9.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.the...1ff81c2db.jpeg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.the...91ca42601.jpeg |
Several folks have this on social media. The guy is a low key hero and Toyota really got themselves some great PR with their stand up willingness to replace his truck.
|
Good story with a happy ending.
Bravo to the driver. |
Awesome. |
Very cool
|
There is now a caravan of 10,000 older Toyota pickups on their way to rescue people.

Bravo all around.

Sorry I don't feel the same way-- this is not "great to see big companies show some compassion and charity". To me it is just a publicity stunt by Toyota to get free advertising and it has worked, there is nothing altruistic here. It would have made more sense if his insurance co did this instead.

Altruism does not exist. Nobody does anything for the sole purpose of helping the other party without getting something in return. That something may be just feeling good. You help a little old lady across the street and it makes you feel good even though your intent was not to make yourself feel good, but rather to help the little old lady.
Here Toyota helps a customer and gets good PR at the same time. Win-win no matter the motivation. If I were the owner I'd rather see Toyota replace the damaged parts so I could drive around in a scorched, but fully functional and safe, vehicle. |

His insurance should still cover the vehicle regardless, right? Essentially he can be +30-40k after this? either way, strong people do strong things when the world is burning around them. He deserves it. |
