Default 3.5 Ton AC Price Check FL??

Any of you guys in the A/C biz? I need to replace the A/C on a rental house, called an A/C company out that I have used in the past and the bid came in at $5k. I was not going to get another bid since I have work history with them but I seem to remember getting a similar unit replaced not long ago for around $3900. (could be crazy, my memory does not always serve me well) I know every job is different but can anyone chime in with a ballpark number for a 3.5 ton A/C with heat pump, easy access in garage no duct work needed, copper lines to stay. Maybe this is not enough info for you guys but the number seemed a little high to me.

Will find out tomorrow as there is someone else coming out to check.
Thanks!

Make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Brand, SEER rating, warranty??????? Kind of like when people say they pay $$ for insurance. Need details.

Sounds a little high but not terribly out of line - I did a 3 ton rheem 16 seer with heat strips for about $4k, Rip and replace old unit but pad, electric, copper stayed. All 3 of my quotes were about the same.

We had an emergency last year on a rental and needed new A/C...only about 1200 sq ft..

3 ton Bryant 14 seer heat pump, including new air handler was $3600 from Schmidt last summer...and it was done in one day, the day after calling them..

They even had a Goodman for $200 less, but chose this one for the two warranties they offered...

Included new elevated slab, new control wires and thermostat, as old system was electric heat

I will definitely be comparing apples to apples. Warranty is through the manufacturer not through the independent company from my understanding and therefor irrelevant to the price of the unit. Unit is a 3.5 ton 16 seer. I did tell him that I didn't want a junk unit since I intend on keeping the house for the income in the future. Nearest I can tell for the Air conditioner and the air handler the price should be $2500 which would leave $2500 for install and $2500 for install seems pretty steep.

Amazon Amazon
for the outdoor unit
Amazon Amazon
the air handler

Rick did the Goodman come with a free dishwasher??

I had a new 16 Seer Rheem 3ton unit put in my house last year for $2,700. Call Universal Air Systems and ask them for a quote. They were good and quick to do the work. I have no complaints at all with their work.

Where is the heat pump in your pricing?

Good timing, I'm sitting in a 90* house right as they're just about to add refrigerant to my new system. Went with a 14 SEER 3.5 ton Lennox heat pump, new airhandler, new lines and electrical, slab, relocation of compressor, basically a total system replacement. In Orlando, best price I got was $5.5k but that was for everything besides duct work.

Sounds fair. Funny. Lennox is the only brand I don't sell.

warranty could differ, some offer parts and labor for extra

without the labor included ,if you end up replacing a compressor, you will be spending your own money on the Freon and labor

oh and just because you can buy it for a price on line does not mean that is what you will pay for the units thru a local company.
they will mark them up also

These type of replys kill me. That is way, way below my cost. Just to buy the equipment. That's a $6000 job. Post up the model numbers and where you live.

My GF just installed a 3 ton Amana split unit. Condenser unit was outside and the gas heat unit inside. Replaced both with good warranties.
She probably paid too much at 5900 installed.

The last unit lasted 18 years and needed about 5 lbs of Freon installed at 120 per pound. Seemed more cost effective to replace a unit that old than apply band aids.

Depends on the model # I can sell you a standard system for less than what the top of the line unit costs me to buy. High end is double the cost.
