"Look at them Nazi Sumbitches"

Pretty impressive..I love seeing history we can all see and touch...reminds us not to repeat past events and the price paid for those events...

I was happy to see nobody was entombed in the sub. I have always hated the raising or retrieval of artifacts involving the dead no matter the side they fought on or how long ago they died.

Pretty neat.

Just looking at pictures of those things from the OUTSIDE gets my claustrophobia worked up. How the F could they get inside those...hear the hatch slam shut and not go completely nuts.

Wow, I remember seeing the movie as a kid, with my dad, when it came out. In sub titles.

I visited the U-534. It is now cut into pieces and displayed as a walkaround with various plaques describing what you see in each section. Cool, but not a fitting end for an old war machine like this one.

U-505 tour in Chicago is amazing at the Museum of Science and Industry.

Amazing stories and technology for its day.

An excellent read is "Shadow Divers" about a sunken German U-boat off the coast of NJ. True story of the guys trying to identify the boat etc. Very good read.

Very good read, that was John Chatterdon (SP) and that was before enriched AIR and tri mix. They dove that sub on al 80's with air.

Those guys really put deep diving on the map especially with their trips to the Andrea Doria.

It seems like almost every wreck we fish off Florida was a victim of a U boat. You don't often hear just how close WW2 was taking place to our home. The capabilities of those vessels to cross the Atlantic and raise absolute hell over here is amazing.
