My word is my bond ... If we agree on something , you will get a call and asked of you want in or out ...

I have driven 200 miles to pick something up some sellers have integrity some don't ...

I clue future buyers in as to what they are in for ... Some drink the Koolaide some don't

Some that do bail when they finally figure it out ...the numbers are growing ...

Just treat your customers with respect ... I do a lot of repeat business with those that do ...

And you can sleep at night vs. the few extra bills in your pocket. Well said man! It's a damned shame that your/our part of our society is shrinking.

Big Box Retailers could care less about “your word” being your bond.

I know some higher ups with Lowes corporate and am going to send this to them if you don't mind. You couldn't be more wrong. Just let me know if it's OK by you.

When you made the deal with them, did you and they agree on a timeline, or did you tell them that you wanted it and needed some time to get the money together? I've sold things on Craigslist and had people tell me that they wanted something but they never showed up to get it. I had one guy tell me that he was heading my way and would be at my house in 15 minutes to pick it up. After an hour I called him and he told me that he got called in to work, but never bothered to call me.

I had another guy from Tampa agree on a price for a Landcruiser and tell me he wanted it and would let me know when he could come get it. A few days later he called and wanted to haggle the price down some more. He did this twice.

I'm sure a boat dealership probably has people tell them every day that they're going to the bank and will be back but never show up. Unless you and the dealer agreed on a timeline and bailed before that timeline, I won't blame the dealer for selling the boat to someone who had the cash to buy it rather than missing a sale because someone was "shaking the trees" and trying to raise money.

My guess is someone, a customer or employee, saw the item and removed the information stating it was sold. If it was a customer, then they probably just carried it to a cashier and paid and walked away with it. Lowes should certainly have video of such. That customer has now commited theft, and Lowes sold stolen property, or so it seems. I think the more likely scenario is an employee or someone whom knew you had to leave called a buddy and helped them load vanity to sell elsewhere. Or the other scenario is someone removed the info and returned the item for a refund, without it actually leaving the store. It may still be there. Either way they have video. I think the police should be called and a theft reported

A police report may have been a good idea... unfortunately if the OP has accepted a refund or this happened some time ago he is likely SOL on that.

Go right ahead.
If corporate is ran in the same manner as the local box stores then...... of course all boxes aren’t exactly the same.

Although, I do have to say Lowe’s is a step up from HD.

The Craigslist and boat dealer posts don't really apply. He had already paid for the vanity and has the receipt. It was his at that time, no matter the location. For Lowes to sell it a second time is bullchit. If it was a true mistake, they owe him the same vanity for the same price. It amazes me how many of you are trying to make it look like the OP's fault.

I'll be glad to. Lowes will make it right contrary to your beliefs. One question, do you think what Lowes did was right or wrong?

Not saying they won’t make it right but it will take an act of Lowe’s congress to get it done.

It’s the incompetency of the employee and unfortunately, Lowe’s takes the hit as their employer because Lowe’s is responsible for it’s employees.

So can I send your post to Lowes Corporate? Won't do without your permission. Just let me know.

Already told ya to go right ahead and transmit away.
Hopefully somebody high up in Lowe’s congress will
put some heat under that particular stores ars and see what the heck is going on there.

This could be just a fraction of the crap going on in that particular store as far as we know.

Definately needs some looking into.

Found myself in a somewhat similar situation at Home Depot where a lawn mower was 3 days out of warranty when I noticed the engine had cracked leaking oil everywhere. The manger was quite nasty about it with a "sorry but that's too bad" attitude. I said ok, reached in my pocket and produced $3800 worth of receipts (washer, dryer, dishwasher, fridge) purchased a week before for a remodel. I showed him the receipts and said I'll be returning these items this afternoon. The manager developed an immediate sense of compassion for my situation saying "you know that crack probably started a few days ago while under warranty" There was a new honda mower being loaded into the back of my truck before you know it.
So you screwed Honda to get it covered. Well done!

You are not the OP.

I've always had good results when working with Lowes. Any disagreement was resolved fairly and there wasn't that many. I don't believe their management will have a problem resolving this one that's fair to both parties.

The update

Met with the manager, he's a nice guy.

The final offer was any vanity in the store at their cost, the only issue is they don't have much to choose from in the correct size I need, and their cost isn't nearly as good as the close out price, so I haven't bought anything yet.

I might buy something in the near future, but I'm not in a rush.
