Iíve heard so many stores of wives or significant others making or breaking boat ownership, some good some bad and some "down right" ugly my wife, funny thing is 5 years ago the Admiral was terrified of boats I mean scared sh_tless no exaggeration, now sheís lets get if fixed and go boating,Without the Admiral id, be spending a fortune on repairs the 280ss is so tight spaced More then that she makes boating fun, she has never said I donít feel like going, or just go with your friends all go next time, itís always well Iím waiting letís go boating

I sold my boat and was going to go without for a few years she told me to put more money in the pot and get something to replace it, she does not even go very often just knows that the kids like it and I have a boating sickness so after 17 years she is a keeper and yes we argue about the time spent fixing and using.

I’ve been pretty lucky I guess my wife never tell me know on anything for the most part, getting ready to have 20 year Anniversary. When it comes to fishing she ready to go all ways. When we first met we wade fished every weekend , that when I knew I had a keeper so I married her. She even wade fished with me when she was pregnant with are son , it got hard on her and she asked me if we could by a boat and I said HELL ya. I’ve had 13 boats since then.

My wife was the one who convinced me to buy a boat last August, I was dead set against it.
I have her to thank for making my life so much better, I love boating, who would've thought?
She has since supported me in trading up for our World Cat.
Not only that, last weekend she did all the videos of our excursion through some fairly rough conditions, she hangs on to the I-phone and any part of the boat that keeps her from falling, she is tough.

Only bad thing, she was wearing her bikini, as soon as the Coast Guard saw her they pulled me over for a routine spot check.

As soon as we were done another boat with a cute girl went by, guess who got pulled over next?

I had all my stuff in order, so I have the yellow sheet, keeps me spot check free for a year.
My wife was happy, it was like 4 Chippendale looking dudes.

Been married 25 years I have owned 50+ boats in that time (lost count years ago) some the wife really liked and some she hated. What is surprising is it is really odd the ones she liked best.

We were powerboat less for a year. My wife kept showing me adds and saying "how about looking at this one"! When we did I was waffling, she said "Buy It"! So we did. I couldn't understand how we went so long without one.

Just celebrated our 40th . She got her captains license before me, don't ask her to run the boat though. The most recent boat GW Marlin was her idea I just wanted a pontoon boat for the sandbar. She's a keeper

I don't think wives make or break boat ownership, I think buying the wrong boat does. Like anything in a marriage, a boat is a compromise between the different kinds of uses that people want to put it to. If you have wildly different views on boating and you buy a boat that can only accommodate one view, then you've made your bed and you have to lie in it. If you give a little so everyone can enjoy it then you've won.

As for me, my wife and I have always had 100% the same view on boat usage and therefore on the type of boat. Heck, without her epoxy-mixing, fiberglass-cutting, tool-passing, design-inspiring attitude, I would never have completed the renovation (that I haven't quite completed yet).

I've been lucky...two wives, both boaters...

First one really liked to fish and boat, as well as hide the boat in the mangroves and go at it! That was always fun...

This one is a Newfie, and comes from a long line of boaters. She cant get enough fishing and boating...just not much of a sandbar girl.

We are talking about a liveaboard one of these days. She needs to hurry up and retire...I aint gettin any younger...

I had a girlfriend that worked as an appliance repair tech. She used to love to help me do mechanical work on the boat and constantly got on me about organizing my tools. Should have kept that one.

Biggest mistake made is not consulting the Admiral on the type of boat to buy. Too many are bought without any consulting at all. Huge mistake. 1982 to 2000, only bought 3 boats for personal use. Each one very different from the one before. Each one with 100% Admiral approval. Each one used almost every weekend April to October. We lived for boating.

The biggest mistake is referring to the wife as admiral.

I have the best in all the world!!

She not only loves to fish and boat, I use her money to pay for it all!!

She boat the bought, the truck to pull it, my gear and she even pays my fuel bill!
