Default Poll-is amercia great & if so why?

I'll go first :
America is the GREATEST country in the history of the world because no OTHER country in the history of the world took it's treasures to keep freedom throughout the world.
I vote YES...

Have a GREAT day all.
All the best!

Not perfect but yes.

People can work their butt off and spend a lot of money on a really expensive toy, that requires a lot of other expensive toys for it's use, that they are going to use like 4 times a year.

Also only place in world that you can have a tripple bacon ranch cheeseburger with a large fry and leave with a clean conscience because you had diet Coke for beverage.

With a little less government America could be greater. What's makes it great is the opportunity to do better than other people by working harder and smarter. Trying to level out the results removes the incentive to work harder and smarter. Equal opportunity and equal results are two entirely different issues. You can't fix the first part by meddling with the second.

Their are more people in the world who still want to come here than any other place on this planet. A study was done and they found that the potential for people around the world who wanted to come to the US was something like 500 million people .

Jocko Willink has a great take in why America is so great. I'll paraphrase:

No country in the history of the world has done so much for other nations and asked for so little in return as the United States. Actually most of the time we requested NOTHING in return.

No country is as diverse or provides more opportunities than the US, and it's not even close.

We have our issues, but a greater country has never existed.

FREEDOM! Freedom to express ourselves, be ourselves, and to pursuit whatever dreams we have.

America, Land of equal opportunity but not equal results. Earn what you can and don't be jealous of those who have more than you. Learn from your mistakes and become better for it. Be a hard worker and all around decent person and you will go far, live a good happy life, and maybe do better than you thought you would at the end. Be kind and help those out in need to find the path to success. Don't feel bad for those who wont help themselves as hopefully one day they wake up and strive to do better.

I grew up with the saying, "You're in America Jack! Land of opportunity. It's all up to you."

And I freakin DID!

FYI I have an acquaintance in Texas I met doing the same thing I was in 2003. He is now a multi millionaire with a huge empire that he built (with no help from the government by the way). I admire him, wish him luck, and have no jealous feeling for him doing much better than me. He earned it, paid a price for it, and lives a life that I would not want to live.

Again this is the land of equal opportunity but not equal results. And that can be for many, many reasons.

That's all I got to say bout that.

I just love these Saturday AM circle jerks.

It's such a productive way to start a weekend.

You can never really appreciate how great America is until you travel the world and see how bad some of the other countries are. USA #1

And the best part about it is that if you don't like it here you can always leave. In some countries even that doesn't apply.
