Default Are people actually this dumb...

...that there's a need for this article to exist?

https://www.wral.com/you-may-want-to...ting/17724395/

First off, she's an idiot for spending $1,300 on a cell phone and then putting it on a freaking restaurant table with no protection. My $175 refurbished Android has been through far worse and keeps right on working.

And B, how is this news!?!?! If my phone was ruined by a waiter spilling stuff on it, you know what I'd do? Hit myself for being a moron and leaving it on the freaking table. I mean...why make it harder on them in the first place. And the fact that she pursued the restaurants insurance to pay for it is just beyond me. It's just ALWAYS someone else's fault! No personal accountability. Boo freaking hoo, your phone was ruined because you were irresponsible with it. Suck it up and move on!

I think I'm just mad she reached out to the news to try and sully Big Ed's good name. Spills happen. Not everything needs to be a freaking crisis.

From the article, sad that so many people will fake an accident with their phone at a restaurant so they can "scam" the restaurant and receive money so they can upgrade their phone!

Any question that includes "are people really this dumb" should be answered with a yes.

her phone was her life, now its over, so she will die. You will hear about her stepping out of a moving car to dance, and get run over next. Darwin wins.

What makes you think she paid for the phone? Difference between buying and actually paying for it.

Why do people put cell phones on the table anyway at a restaurant? Are they not there to eat and have some social time with who they are there with? If I am with someone and they start fooling around with their phone at the table I let them know it is rude.

If all the cell phones in the world mysteriously stopped working tomorrow, I would be bothered not one iota.

So let me get this straight, the person who dropped a whole tray of drinks onto customers is not the dumb person? The dumb person is the one that was covered in drinks due to no fault of their own?

I wouldn't call the waiter dumb. It was an unfortunate accident, sure.

The woman is absolutely dumb for leaving a 1,300 phone, unprotected, on the table at a restaurant where things are likely to get spilled on it.

My point is...crap happens and had she not been irresponsible with her phone, it wouldn't be an issue. Instead she cries victim and acts like it's a crisis...enough to get picked up by our news somehow.

She's an idiot. Again, if that happened to me I'd hit myself for leaving my phone on the table.

She is dumb for buying a $1300 phone. But someone else's screw-up is not her fault

Yeah I understand the spillage was not her fault. But it's irresponsible to leave something that's apparently that important where it's likely to get damaged.

I'm not saying the restaurant doesn't share the blame, but this whole thing reads like a witch hunt and seeks to blame everyone else which is all too common in today's world.

I'm not really sure putting your phone on the table is irresponsible. It was an unfortunate accident and the restaurant took care of her.

Also, I never put cases on my phones, they make them too bulky. Are people so afraid of their phone getting ruined that they put them in a huge plastic coffin, as if the phone is damaged their life is ruined?

Yeah, she's seems as guilty as the waitress in this instance, she should just let it go.
