Default Boat Runs Over Truck In NY

Check out the link. Looks like someone forgot to put the straps on the back of the boat and it slid up and over the tow vehicle while stopping. It seems strange a large boat can go up and over a truck, but it sure looks like it did. Maybe the brakes locked up.

Anyone with first hand info?

Can't tell if any rear straps were used.

Looks like there may have been ropes tied to the upper part of the transom (and, I assume, the back end of the trailer?). When the boat broke free, it probably pulled the boat across the guides JUST before the lines popped ? Not sure.

Regards,

You can clearly see that the trim tabs are fully retracted. That's why the bow is really digging in so much.

Judging from the pics of the truck, the boat could use some more deadrise.

Chain of events:
1. Boat was not properly secured to the trailer. (According to the driver, "didn't need to due to weight of the boat".)
2. Truck towing the boat was attempting a panic stop for a traffic light
3. Subject boat was assisted in continuing it's vector by a 2nd truck (following) which did not match the negative acceleration of the subject vehicle.
4. Truck responsible for the assist mostly left the scene immediately following the accident . (Front license plate of the rear ending vehicle was recovered from the trailer debris.)

Next time maybe he'll pay a professional to move his boat, or at least someone who knows how to drive.

Truck has pretty good brakes!!

Just saw that boat was hit in the back by another truck- and he boogied out there. And left a license plate. He will be having a bad day...

Ha! The truck roof has about a 15deg dead rise now. It looks to be fairly stable at rest.

If he was rear ended hard enough to knock the boat over the trailer where is the damage on the rear of the boat. You would also think that the lower unit would have done enough damage to the other truck to make in un derivable.

I'm calling BS on any truck rear-ending the boat in that photo. I cannot see any transom damage at all. Prop still looks perfect as well. I think this is another one of those "Fish stories", where the story and the fish grows bigger with each and every re-telling of the story!

This one would be easier to board over the bow, If the hatch were not locked from inside. Boarding this one from the stern would not be so easy.
