Default Suicide leaving a mess or where it's done.

There have been a few threads on suicide and I was talking to my wife the other day about it. The father of one of my high school friends shot himself when he found out that part of his face would have to be removed because of cancer caused by using dip for 50+ years. He didn't want to go through the pain and would have looked like a mutant with as much of his face that had to removed. I knew the guy pretty well as he used to hang around with us when we used to bar hop, he was a total a-hole when he got drunk so many times we just left him at a bar and we would take off. We knew he would likely be in jail by the end of the night.....and 9 times out of 10 he was. Overall he was just kind of a jerk and not a good father since all 4 of his boys followed in his footsteps and are all alcoholics.

Anyway my point......he blew his brains out with a 44 magnum in his recliner in the living room. As soon as I heard this I immediately thought that sounds about right, make someone have to clean up your brains off of everything. Another guy I knew shot himself in his bed creating a horrendous mess that someone had to clean up. A guy I used to work with his father hung himself in the hallway outside of his boys bedroom knowing that his kids would be the first to find their father dead hanging from a rope. The younger of the boys has had mental problems his entire life from seeing his dad hanging dead.

If you are sick enough to commit suicide why not do it where your family won't have to clean up your bodily fluids or where your kids won't see you? Are these people trying to make a statement like revenge? What reason would anyone have to make sure your kids find your dead body?

I may be way wrong but my guess is, it's a final cry for help or a "Now you have to look at me." Not everyone that is depressed is depressed for good reason, some never try to pull themselves out of their funk, but it's serious business every way you look at it.

So you ask 3 or 4 questions that cannot be answered by someone who has not committed suicide. Much like trying to understand why someone committed suicide, you will never understand the logistics of the act.

And for what it is worth, my brother committed suicide. The only way I could move on is by reconciling that I will never understand the why, let alone the reasoning to the methodology or location.

A mid 30s woman in my neighborhood according to her father called her ex boyfriend that had just broken up with her on the phone, and said..."I want you to hear the last moments of my life.....BOOM"! Shot herself while on the phone with the ex bf.

Childhood best friend had his dad suckstart 12ga in the room above where he and his family were....I can't even imagine the mess that created, and saw firsthand how it pretty much destroyed the life of his son, and his wife. His daughter appeared to create a nice life for herself though so there is hope after all.

Real men should adopt the policy of felines, when it's time to check out if that's how you wanna roll, then take that long one way journey into the forest to never be seen again.

a) rational thought has nothing to do with this issue

b) hire someone. There's enough money in the estate.

Saw one where a guy sat on the foot of his bed and put his mouth over the end of a shotgun. used his foot to pull the trigger. All of it went up into the ceiling fan and slung it all around the bedroom.

Buddy of mine worked for his family's jewelry business. He was the last person at the store one night and shot himself in his dad's office. Dad found him the next morning.

If someone considers suicide I doubt they're considering the location or how much of a mess they'll make.

Never understood this as well. If you want to off yourself, go ahead and OD on tranquilizers or take a nap in a closed garage with the cars running.

I like Bluffmans idea, take a long ride offshore and lean over the side when you pull the trigger. No fuss, no mess.

Most suicides you describe are a result of deep mental issues, predominantly depression. You are thinking rationally, they aren’t.

I would assume it is a final statement and punishment to the people the person thinks drove them to commit suicide. "See what you made me do."

I could never blow my head off. I'd call up Big Al saying we need to be set up for a party of 20. But then it would be just me and I have a rip-roaring good time. Maybe take out a few child molesters before I go too.

I can’t find the thread but there is some guy where who had a renter in one of his units blow his brains out when the cops showed up. I think it was some three strike rule and he knew he was going to go away for a long time. He posted some pics. It was pretty messy.

If you are in a state of mind to kill yourself, I can't imagine you are worried about who is going to clean it up. F-ed up thread.

Who knows. Actually I don't wanna know. I can't comprehend someone in that state of mind, and I hope I'll never be able to.

Gal in high school I knew well hung herself in the barn while her parents were at the beach. Right in front of the horses who went crazy seeing her. Parents came home and found her.

Kid I knew had his dad come home and drag his wife out behind their house...shot her then himself in their camper. Kid was maybe 7, brother was 5. They found them when they got off the bus. Nicest family you'll ever meet...no one had any idea whatsoever.

I have been to between ar least 50 to 75 suicide scenes. There is no reasoning to it. The person is already ill enough to take their own life, they are generally not thinking about anyone else..

BTW till you see what a high powered rifle does to a head, you have no idea... Suicide just transfers a lot of hurt to other family members..

One of my Sunday School teachers 17 yo son blew his brains out in Dads home, my church told him to bring cleanup bill to them, church paid for it, Dads better now but will never forget!
Still sad thinking about it!
God bless the families left behind!
