Default Miami Vice...

I saw it last night, and thought it was pretty good. I guess I had fairly low expectations (which I do for most movies nowadays).

I grew up watching the series, and I thought the movie managed to capture some of the feel of the original. Not bad.

Just saw MV this afternoon. I kind of managed my expectations in that I wasn't going to try to compare too much with the television series. I own season 1 & 2 on DVD and regularly watch them. It’s always entertaining.

Now back to the movie. Here are a few of my observations to the details.
(1) No one seemed to be smoking cigarettes (original TV series in the early showings always had Crockett with a butt.) The only scene I recall is that outside of the hospital you saw employees taking a smoke break.
(2) A definite weapons upgrade.
(3) The 'go-fast' boat operated by Crockett had the red/green (port / starboard) navigational lights on the wrong side. Was this intentional as the boat was supposed to be a drug runner and to confuse the authorities as to the direction of travel at night, or did the person in charge of the details not catch this one?
(4) The Crockett / Tubbs relationship appeared to be less friendly than the TV series.
(5) My vote goes out to the dark-haired hooker in the early part of the movie who with her friend was going to take care of the guy at the club. With those tight legs and body, she surly is a long distance runner. Crockett she have 'hooked' up with her rather than the Chinese business lady.

3) You've may have just caught a common Hollywood "scene adjustment." After the shot was done the producer may have realised they needed the boat running in the opposite direction for continuity purposes and "flipped" the image. Did anyone notice if the characters' shirt buttons changed sides in that scene?

4) I dont think they really got friendly until after the first season. Didnt Crocket view Tubbs as overly influenced by an emotional need to get back at a particular gangster who killed a partner or something? (It's been a while since I watched the show so excuse me if I'm a bit fuzzy on it.)

P.S. Did they bring back Elvis?

I saw the movie this weekend it was ok. The wide angle scenes of the ocean and boat etc. Were pretty cool. However I still like the opening scene of the old MV where the Well craft clears a wave all the way out of the water in slow mo is an all time favorite seens.
The new MV favorite seen was the shoot out very cool I thought.
