Default Bigger, better, stronger, but cheaper?? Product issue

I'm not going to post the company info here yet because I want to be fair to them.

I bought a electrical component for my boat in February and it failed this past week. This was a new released item, and being a marine item I don't like to be the first to have them. I called the company to discuss and they said this item was cheaper, but much better than their previous items. I questioned how that's possible and I was told the newer technology they are using is bringing prices down. I'm an idiot so I purchased.
Last week they stopped working. I called the company Friday afternoon and was told they would get back to me today (they did not, but it's a holiday week) Even though people race how great their service is. Today on Facebook I saw someone complaining and having the same issue as me. I sent a message to the guy and he said he's getting the run around, they want detailed information and he can't get them to power up. He was going to just replace them, but this is $400 item and I'm not throwing that away.

I wondered if bigger, and better means Chinese made now. They do claim made in the USA. Im going to went to WM today to see if the package does say made in USA.

it's a light. I didn't want to come out and bash a product without giving the company a chance to fix it

Isn't exactly high tech stuff. Not lots of moving parts. Hope you get the warranty relief you want.
