Default Pool Tables?

They are a dime a dozen for round $500 bucks and I know why but we are getting a used one for my kids before they are gone in a couple of years so a used one it shall be. Anything I should be looking for? 7' or 8' ??? I will hire a professional to move and set it up. Should I just but the pretty one?

I'm not super handy and I moved mine and set it up. If its 3 piece slate it's manageable. 1 piece would be too heavy. I've had both 7 and 8ft and the main thing is how much room you have. I liked the 7ft a little better. Make sure the sides still have a lot of bounce left. New felt is cheap and not hard to install.

A pool table requires a LOT of space in order to not be obstructed by walls/etc. I would prefer an 8ft table but I would really prefer to have space that permits no obstructed shots.

Go to local pool hall (pref one w a lot of gambling this is where the better players will be).

ask who is the go to guy for setting up and recovering tables. Hire them yo do it its not expensive.

a good way to buy one is right after a big tournament

Have it recovered in simonis 760

I like 9 ft tables. Im a fan of diamond tables w a couple shims in the pockets. It will make you a better player.

My favorite game has always been one pocket. You should learn to play that.

I agree. Have a 50+ year old 9 foot Brunswick. Practice on it and then play on a 7. Had a local pool hall with all Diamonds and they even had a 10 footer.

Not sure if Gold Crown. It's a commercial table that is probably closer to 60 years old. Just had it moved and it took 3 people on each of the 3 pieces of slate. Re-did the cover and the rails. It doesn't have the leather pockets but is still a beast. Been playing on it since I was a kid and when I get on a 7 or 8 footer it's like shooting rats in a barrel.

I suck at Pool but enjoy hanging around with friends with a few drinks while playing. My new house has a play room which is perfect fit and am really getting it to fill the space and for the kids
